I think it would be a great idea to have a who is online section for NUMA like we have in the forums. That way, we could have another chance of getting maps noticed and to see who's online. Agree/Disagree?

It's been suggested before. Obviously it hasn't happened. I would think that someone else would need to make the code for it and then send that code to Arachnid and make sure it works in Google AppEngine and then make sure it doesn't cause any bugs with the site and that it can be integrated into the site without being in the way.....

Personally I think a "Who's Online" section would just look cluttered on the site.

It would be pretty small I think, especially without statistics or birthdays. But I'm no good with coding. :(

Put it at the bottom, just below the "Next Page"

If the site was to have a (big) makeover I suppose it would be a minor thing to fix but as Manus says, it's complicated :p
I suppose it would be useful depending on how many users are visiting..
If there are always a lot of users online I don't think you could catch any snipers, and then it might just create paranoia =)

The section would be big, full of names, and plain ugly. I would maybe support a "who's looking at this page" feature, but not a "who's online" one.

I have to admit, I agree and like that suggestion more, never thought of that.

I imagine it would still look incredibly ugly when looking at the front page or the Hot Maps page.

Meh, I doubt i'd even notice it much if it's at the bottom.

I'd suggest for you to come up with a mock design of how it would look pleasing to have a "Who's Online" section before you could convince me. You may convince other people too.
Convincing Arachnid might take some good persuasion though.

Though, you need to have a very good kickass design that would fit Numa's current design for the extra feature you want, and code it, and show it to Arachnid.

Can't code, and not very good at imaging.

Anyway, maybe you could find somebody to do the mockup design for it, Odyssey. Coding will be another issue (and hell, I'm sure Arachnid could code something like it pretty quickly and easily) but how it should look is what is most important I think.

How about Chase? Or if you want to make a mockup design, Manus.

For starters I'm a big fan of having the link at the bottom (that way it'll fit into any page on NUMA) OR
And then it COULD look like the active authors section (or maybe replace it? I've never seen the good use in that one)

Another idea is to do what Rulez did for MoA:
I changed it a bit And I suppose that you can tweak it into NUMA design: I think I prefer a mix of the two 8D

If it would be implemented like that, I would prefer a spoiler, so I didn't have to leave the page I was on.

Is it possible to have it as an option too turn on and off if people don't want a section like that?

I guess the left and right are holy because they give NUMA a relaxing feel, so either it's at the bottom (and the list might overlap the original content of the site when it goes up) or it's right to 'NUMA' (there's a free spot)
