Awesome, I've yet to try it in FF, but I gave the code a shot via a Greasemonkey haxxorz in Chrome. It appears to work, Favorite Authors appears, but then you notice that it doesn't have any +/- signs next to authors, and you cannot get any functionality from it. =(

However, I may have just set it up wrong; after all, I followed the most half-arsed set of instructions for adblock installation via Vista, and I'm on XP.
It sounds like the same set of problems posed by older FF, so maybe if you fix that up, it will work on Chrome!

EDIT: Greasemonkeyed up my FF, amazing!

New update.

Image

There's now a link next to your unread comments notification that gives you its own notification with you have favorited authors with new maps: "X fav. updates" (Done so because there is such a limited space up there, it's not possible to put "X favorited authors with new maps" without pushing 'Log Out' off the side.)

It only updates once every five minutes, because requesting from the server for each author each time you click a link is way too much for the server. Once you click the link (either of the links) to the favorite authors, it clears the number of fav. updates. Removing an author, and then adding him again will cause him to be shown up as 'new'.

Known problem: AMomentLikeThis does not show up in your favorites authors because he doesn't even show up in the normal listing.(http://www.nmaps.net/browse?q=author:amomentlikethis)

ETA: If you didn't hear it enough already... If you find /any/ bugs, please tell me about them.

I've noticed that, for one, the Log Out Box is pushed outside slightly by No Fav Updates. Although that's probably because I have such a long freaking name.

Second, when I click on Favourite Authors, it says "NO Favorite Authors" and then loads up the list. Also, after adding some, it has two loading lists.

Sounds like you have two instances of the script running. If you don't know which is the newer one, remove both and install again.

And for the names, I did my best to accommodate for ones of varying length. Yours is just too long, sorry ;__;

Double post, but I'm sure the following merits one:

Rewrote some code, and adjusted some workings... One version works on both Firefox, and now Opera!

Plugin now works on Opera
http://www.opera.com/browser/tutorials/userjs/using/

I haven't done vigorous testing on Opera, there's a problem on mine that requires me to refresh the page after clicking a new link (not related to the plug-in, it's happening everywhere), so if there are any bugs, please tell me about them. Haven't tested on Chrome, but since I'm not using Greasemonkey's functions anymore, it should work. If it works on Chrome, please say so here! :D

Because of the different way of storing data, you may want to 'clear favorited authors' before installing the new version. Regardless of if you do, you will have to redo your favorited authors, except this way you clean up GM's values.

Oh, I thought you said it wouldn't work. I'll have to try it out!

Edit: Confirmed for Firefox 3.0.13!

Just downloaded Chrome and tested it. Some of it works.

Chrome fails to set a margin value with javascript, so no fav updates. You can comment out a couple of the lines that make the top part not push 'Log Out' off the side, and it should work. (PM me for which lines, if you plan on doing this.) Enabling scripts on Chrome is a pain in the balls to do, but you can always use its creator's search engine to find out.
Toggles still show, and you can still visit your favorite authors page.

A cool thing about Chrome is that it conforms to Aero, but I already got Firefox to do that...

Ahahahahha. No one's given me a good reason for this one yet. I'll take my entirely integrated browser and run with it, thank-you-very much. Enjoy your extremely minimalistic nothing-browser.

You should have make it more known, I found out now for the first time.
Anyway, I've downloaded this, but it's not working. At all.

I wouldn't say that it's not working if I didn't do what I should. Have you tested it on Opera 10?

No... Not that I really want to, either.
Just don't use it then, or find out if 9's userscript method is even applicable for the new one.

Browsers aren't mutually exclusive. Except Safari. I don't know if or how Mac forces you to use their stuff without uninstalling or blocking it or whatever, but gloomp seems to use Firefox just fine; ask him how he managed to pull Mac's head from its arse. In any case, your parents can still use their IEX and you can move on to the better and brighter. And faster.
Out of the umpteen people I've told to change from IE, all of them (except maybe yungerkid... I think he still uses IE) have agreed that they were seriously missing out on the awesomeness the nets can be until they switched (be it to Firefox or... Chrome D:).

If you tell your parents that their risk for getting a virus greatly reduces when they download and use Firefox they might change their tune. It's worked for me!

in any case, old thread update!
ironically i switched to chrome. i had a patched up version for myself i've been using, but didn't post, so now it's up.
i've added a small feature to list your favorite authors on your profile page for easy access.

this now works flawlessly in chrome for you fellow chrome converts.

Hey sidke! is there any chance you could make this into a safari extension as well? I don't really know how easy it would be to do, but it can't hurt to ask...

pretty please!
