Why dont we just try stuff out?

There seems to be a huge number of ideas to make the community better. Why not try them, and see if they work? Is it a lot of work to change the system?

Yes. Especially because the head coder has very little time for NUMA anymore. Also, trial and error is generally a bad idea. You can't exactly undo what goes on under new setups. You'd end up with a bunch of weird leftovers of whatever didn't work.

This place isn't run by automated bots, yaknow. People have lives to live.

The non-cryptic answer to your question is that the one guy who currently has the power to change things to do with the coding of the site no longer has the time. People are working on getting the keys handed over to someone who can take on that responsibility.

Arachnid has little time for the petty desires of NUMA life. Pfft, if you can do it, send him the code and be his guest.

I don't understand. That's the point I was making. And Yanni already put that point in as easily digestible a nutshell as possible. Question answered.

Even if it wasn't an incredible amount of work, most of which would be wasted, everyone would be all "ARGH WHY ARE YOU CHANGING THINGS I HATE YOU ALL NUMA SUCKS NOW I'M LEAVING FOREVER" for about three years. I mean, even when we make necessary changes which people have been asking for, a bunch of other people complain that we've ruined N, the community, and apple pie. Can you imagine the whining if we kept making random changes hoping to hit something good? It's not really encouraging.

Oddly enough, I was just reading through the "NUMA going forward" topic again, and it got me wondering. Whatever happened to the 'Nid/LV transition? That thread's been defunct since April, there haven't been any News postings, and there obviously haven't been any sweeping changes on NUMA.

I personally think NUMA's largely fine, it would just be exciting to have new things afoot.
