Busy Reviewers

I can't believe it...
...I looked at Riobe's new map and three reviewers posted comments in 10 minutes.
I sent PMs to ask three reviewers (I don't tell you the names.) for the creature feature over and over but noone cared.
WTF is going on? There was no creature feature for August 8th, 2010 but there were many reviewers who could did one.
I don't want to be mean but even I could do a better job and would take it serious.
Oh, wait! Today's creature feature thing isn't the only problem. Look at the review schedule in the Featured Maps Queue thread! I read "missed", "missed", "missed". Again and again. For this month, rocket_thumped and squibbles forgot their reviews too. I know that reviewers have a real life and some stuff like that but how can it be that there are so many missed review days??

here's the issue: being a reviewer is actually a responsibility, not a perk. well, maybe it is fun, and it shows that you're respected, but it can also be a quick way to lose that respect. we need people who are willing to take time out of their days to make our lives easier and more enjoyable, not to mention good writers. if this sounds harsh, never forget it's a volunteer position.

I think if there were a larger variety of reviews to chose from for creature feature, it would be used more often.

And frankly, many of them are just...subpar. :/
Also, I slept for about 20 hours on my day, and then had work, so uh, my bad. :/

I was away from my computer, but I didn't receive any comments anyways. So, yeah.

If you guys need reviews for Creature Feature days, or just days when a person misses their slot, feel free to use mine. (Even though we got started off on the wrong foot, I think we have moved past it.) There's a bunch, you're bound to find one NUMA-worthy.

i'm sorry, squibbles, but that's two excuses that both don't work.
creature feature is not just reviews from the creature feature thread, it's a day when reviewers can review several maps in one day. you can write your own reviews for creature feature. additionally, reviews from the creature feature thread don't have to be used on creature feature day, they can be used anytime. being a reviewer, i thought you would have at least understood your own system. this goes for r_t as well.
second, that's just a good reason why you shouldn't have volunteered to write a review for that day... and if you're that busy so regularly that you couldn't plan ahead, you shouldn't be a reviewer.
i completely don't understand blackson's comment.

If you hadn't deleted that message you sent to me (and Skyline and someone else) before I could read it, then I might have actually done something for Creature Feature. Furthermore, as rocket_thumped so eloquently said, it's a pretty stagnant thread at the moment. No one seems to care about writing reviews for I'm willing to pick, so can I be unconditionally blamed for forgetting about it entirely?
Additionally:
Scrivener wrote:creature feature is not just reviews from the creature feature thread, it's a day when reviewers can review several maps in one day. you can write your own reviews for creature feature. additionally, reviews from the creature feature thread don't have to be used on creature feature day, they can be used anytime. being a reviewer, i thought you would have at least understood your own system. this goes for r_t as well.
It was my understanding that it doesn't work like this at all, actually. Creature Feature is intended as an opportunity for the average NUMAn to show off his reviewing skill, not as a free-for-all map-a-thon.

Thank you, gloomp, you're right about that. I hadn't noticed how much CreatureFeature has changed since it started, because I distinctly remember days where there were new features every 2 hours or so, and some of them written by reviewers, some from the thread. Maybe that was just the first CreatureFeature day? Anyway, my point about reviewers being busy holds. If you're so busy that you can't pick a day that works or warn us ahead of time that you'll miss, is the job really for you?

what probably happened is leaff gloomp and someone were on irc and played riobe's map because riobe's a pal but didn't get on the forums because frankly the forums are boring if it weren't for sidke's posts every once in a while i wouldn't read anything, in fact that's why i'm in this forum right now, because it said maki on the newest post thing.

And even if it does, well, I have done exactly
that, and if there were more reviews of quality in the thread, perhaps I'd do it again.

Oh, my bad. I thought creature feature ran off a "comment on a reviewer's" map basis like that Christmas thing did last year. Wasn't aware of a thread (new to the squad (since Creature Feature's induction)).

Sometimes shit comes up, man. You can't know three weeks ahead of time when you signed up for September 2nd that
that will be the day when you slip on something getting out of bed and break your arm. I mean, sure, the chances of something coming up every day you're supposed to review is unlikely, but once, twice, even thrice isn't outside the realm of possibility. I hardly think squibbles intended to sleep 20 hours.

Life comes before the internet, people. If you have no responsibilities on the internet you have no knowledge of this concept. Life problems must be dealt with before internet problems. Most of us have to learn this the hard way, which is the time when a n00b becomes an elite. It's the natural order of things and it's a happy day when we all make the switch from being amazed by the internet to realizing our dreams and aspirations are being wasted away at 56k.

Unless you're me, and have been on 28k his whole life. >_>
(although, as of 6 days ago, this is not the case. Yeaaaaaaah.)
