Ouch. Now I simply /must/ enter. And, seeing as I started the map today and KA is extending the deadline, expect something from me. Entry: Kirby's Avalanche for Kicks:
A bit of a stylistic departure for me, with some familiar elements as well. Thanks to atob for title inspiration. theforestandthefire = good music.

In chronological order:
NicNac14
Sonic The Ninja!
Creativity /50: 10 - Sonic the Hedgehog is clearly not the most creative reference possible, seeing as we've also got two other Sonic entries. However, you didn't choose N, so you get 10 points.
NUMA /50: 15 - I'd give this a 1.5/5 on NUMA, seeing as it's not really an enjoyable map, the flow is minimal to terrible, and I probably wouldn't even look at it if it weren't entered in my contest.
Reference /50: 20 - You have captured some of the feel of Sonic, in that the ninja is generally moving while playing this map. However, that's also the objective of any half-arsed highscorer. The enemies weren't really used in a Sonic-like manner, but there of course was a marked attempt to make tunnels in the style of Sonic.
Total /150: 45
Additional Comments: Thanks for the entry, but you might need to test the map a bit more before you submit it, just to see how much it actually feels like what you're going for.

wulfgang
House Burning Down
Creativity /50: 41 - Lovely idea. Thinking somewhat outside the box. Not the most unadaptable reference possible, but quite interesting.
NUMA /50: 42 - Really a top quality standalone map. Interesting tileset even if you don't know what it's referencing. The gameplay is simple but very enjoyable and altogether it's a a great map.
Reference /50: 35 - I really can see how you've used the citadel to inspire your tileset. I can see the chunk that's cut out and everything. I do however think a more open gameplay would have gone with the theme a little more, with the ability to do things outside the citadel itself, but in general again a top quality entry.
Total /150: 118
Additional Comments: Wow. Definitely one of the best maps I've seen made for a contest, in general, and in the confines of this contest, I do believe one of the best I will see. Thanks for putting some real thought and effort into it, as it's clear that it's worked.

Yahoozy
Lungepop
Creativity /50: 46 - Wow. Right out there with a game I would think difficult to portray in N terms. Very reminiscent of the old Helicopter game we used to play at school. That game got kids suspended, yo.
NUMA /50: 39 - You can hold right at the start to undie. I don't like that. I'm a big fan of holding something whenever I start a map. And I did find some of the faster sequences to be a little annoying, but in general a solid an a half map. The concept especially as a standalone map works wonders.
Reference /50: 47 - I've got to say, attempting a portrayal of this magnitude takes balls, and you have pulled it off with aplomb. Of course it does stray a fair amount from the original, but seeing as there's not really any other way to make it similar, you've done a fantastic job of evoking the intended image.
Total /150: 132
Additional Comments: Very well done. Great map on its own, great map for the reference, and great choice of reference. I see it as hard to beat.

18-0 Have you ever been mellow?
Creativity /50: 0 - Disqualified.
NUMA /50: 0 - Annihilated.
Reference /50: 0 - TKO.
Total /150: 0
Additional Comments: Fatality. No NReality, plox.
----
PALEMOON
Aeris Velivolus
Creativity /50: 40 - Can't even work out what the fuck you're going for here. I Googled the name of the map, and yours was the first entry. But then Images shows me that the first image looks remarkably like your map. Or vice versa. Did you, like, make, a game?
NUMA /50: 43 - Great map. Just my style. With the jumping and the mines and the few moving things. Could have benefitted from a more overall spread of difficulty, rather than the incredibly easy jumps followed by corner jumps of high intensity. Still a great map.
Reference /50: 30 - Apart from the tiles looking very much like the first Google Image, I don't see how this map evokes any part of Shadow of the Colossus at all. As far as reference goes, it could just be an N-Art. However, the tileset is well done for a challenging concept, and I did see the resemblance straight away.
Total /150: 113
Additional Comments: Good map on its own, but could have benefitted from a concept which could evoke the game itself more.
----
lord_day
Dragon Warrior
Creativity /50: 45 - The RPG angle is not too creative, but the level at which you've gone to create this is quite remarkable.
NUMA /50: 49 - Might seem biased, but you know I generally love lord_day maps, and this is a lord_day map in the style of my choosing if I ever had one. Only qualm is the fixed drones. Annoys me a bit these days, but works well with the reference. One point off for that.
Reference /50: 40 - Lovely blocky RPG style, but I found the boss battle to not be much harder than the rest of the game, so to speak. Also I think I may have found a top-down replication more interesting, but the change of point of view is only worth a few negative points.
Total /150: 134
Additional Comments: As I would expect, another great map by lord_day, based on a cool game, but just a bit off what I would consider perfect.
----
Evil_Sire
Level 8 - Watery Forest
Creativity /50: 10 - Sonic = not creative.
NUMA /50: 8 - Flow is terrible, speed is all over the place. Generally uninteresting.
Reference /50: 20 - More than the other sonic references, in that there are some loops and big drops. No gold signifying rings however, and no enemies. Also, much less flowy than Sonic.
Total /150: 38
Additional Comments: Nice try, but a lot more thought and effort needs to go into it to get a good score.

NicNac14
Roof Jumper..
Creativity /50: 30 - Not the most creative game to choose, as it's easily replicatable, but not the least, either.
NUMA /50: 25 - Average map. Way cluttered, a bit cheatable.
Reference /50: 38 - Quite a good job at getting it like the game it's based on. Could have done with some more simple deterrents to falling, since it just ended up being quite cluttered. Needed more mines on the walls, too, to change that aspect.
Total /150: 93
Additional Comments: You did alright. Could have made a better map and picked a better game, but the adaptation was really quite good.

atob
WARNING forever
Creativity /50: 41 - Classic style game I've never seen before. Points off because there are about five hundred games of this type, but you have picked a relatively difficult style.
NUMA /50: 36 - As a straight survival, you've pulled it off okay, but you can survive indefinitely with a series of jumps around where the door switches are. Going for the gold is definitely quite a challenge, and really makes the map. Definitely too cluttered, but that gets you points for reference.
Reference /50: 48 - Great adaptation, using the lovely cluttered style of these boss battles, and going for the gold is really like making an attack on the mothership, seeing how the placement is. You can even disable some of its weapons with direct attacks!
Total /150: 124
Additional Comments: Good survival map on its own, but the cheatability aspect is a little frustrating. This does work out well for the reference, though, so it's a bit of a give and take, unfortunately. I wish I could give you more points for creativity, but the sheer number of Galaga clones out there just doesn't let me.

SlappyMcGee
Reverse Flagpole
Creativity /50: 25 - Can't say I've worked out what you're going for here. You really should have said what game. End of an old Mario level, perhaps?
NUMA /50: 25 - So average. Not difficult at all, and not too interesting. I wouldn't say bad, however.
Reference /50: 25 - Let's call this remarkably average as well. You do have to slide down the flagpole as in Mario, but you have to go back up again to get more coins. Don't get that, partciularly. The drones work as goombas, however. Thwumps, not really related at this stage of the Mario universe.
Total /150: 75
Additional Comments: SlappyMcMeh?

Pheidippides
Kirby's Avalanche for Kicks
Creativity /50: 49 - Uh, wow. I didn't think I'd see anyone take on one of these old-style puzzle games and actually make an interesting map. Very well done.
NUMA /50: 49 - Good good map. Very fun to play and some extremely interesting elements to it. I like the three-parter. Works on at least twelve levels.
Reference /50: 39 - You didn't really keep enough of the puzzle element to maintain a high reference score, but the visual resemblance to the game, and the many hints as to the puzzle element work in your favour.
Total /150: 137
Additional Comments: As you can see by the score, this is my pick for winrar. Amazing map on its own, a very interesting concept, and although slightly lacking in the reference, solid in that aspect as well.
----
Erik-Player
Part IV: Fancy Little World.
Creativity /50: 34 - Not the most creative of choices, seeing as it's a little man travelling around a pseudo-landscape, much in the same vein as N, but creative in that I've never heard of it.
NUMA /50: 35 - It's an above average map. Not too interesting or complex, but not boring, either.
Reference /50: 37 - I can definitely see the many resemblances, but that's not too hard seeing as the games are very similar to begin with. Nice try!
Total /150: 106
Additional Comments: Last but not least. A solid attempt. Not the best game to pick, however, as there wasn't that much you could do with it.

NICNAC14 - Sonic The Ninja! (http://nmaps.net/140877)
A good race map for N is reminiscent of the speed and fluidity of Sonic. Unfortunately, this isn't a good race map. It's more like Sonic on rails. Rather rusty rails.

The word molasses comes to mind, but perhaps that's just because I was listening to a song which had that word in its lyrics. Big points for creativity. Although, I had a go at Thrustburst and I just held down the right arrow, pumped the up arrow, and cruised along, so I will have to assume it gets harder and more like this map as time goes on. A worthy entry.

The second entry based on Sonic. Despite the presence of Nreality mods, I'll rate it as it plays in regular N. It's an unengaging race with a couple of loops. Poor aesthetics.
