Well I pulled off a 628 frame speedrun first try on my laptop today. I spent about an hour trying for the between-mine jump yesterday on my laggy pc and just couldn't do it. I feel sorry for anyone with a laggy PC for this map.

I'm getting a new PC on Friday which is like 438574357x better than my laptop, so hopefully I'll be a much better competitor soon :)

I don't get access to my home computer for 1.5 days and when I return what do I find? I'm last of the serious scores in the highscore mode. GRRRRRRR.

The flow of this map is what really distracts me. As a highscorer I usually have instincts about what to do next as I'm playing a map. The rocket/tileset combination really messes with these.

(ARGH. My computer has never been THIS SLOW before! I've had to close NReality just to write this post...)
Achievements:

Completed N and NReality.
106 N v1.4 highscores.
I used to maintain 1000 NReality Level Top20 Highscores - Ranked 0th
Former Owner of Episode 169, way back when.
I've taken 10 Metanet 0ths. 6 of them lasted <2 days. I don't have any of them anymore. >:(
Third Place in BLUR 4 highscore.
Not highscoring anymore until v2.

The problem I have is that I seem to have been entered into the "Group of Death". Both romaniac and golfkid are within a second of my current score (which I will find hard to improve without a serious route change) and xaelar is bound to appear with a score higher than 200.

The only thing that really annoys me with the map is the way the gold placement interferes with the flow. The tileset gives plenty of opportunities for little innovations and the rockets are pretty well placed.

Goddammit. I just hatethis map. This map is not for me. Not at all. I won't try to make my run on both modes faster, because I know I can't, - I can, actually - but this map is just annoying. :/

I'm dissapointed.

Finally the suspense is over... xaelar has appeared. The good news is that he hasn't quite scored 200 (yet).

Thanks to golfkid for the sig ;-)

I've managed to equal my current highscore on the map 3 times (literally), each time would've been an improvement of about 3 seconds had it not been for messing the end up. I'm curious as to how you guys have managed 198.000 and above.

I don't think I'm allowed to answer that but there's a clue in what ska said earlier (assuming he's referring to what I think he is):
ska wrote: ...another problem which I'm not going to reveal until the end of the round)...
I also have a question, as this is my first time doing Blur. Is it an accepted strategy to hold onto a better demo until right before the deadline or is that considered bad form?

Probably bad form, because they can't see your demo anyways.

Hmm. I think I'll leave it up to you guys to use your own honour codes and the like; if you want to hold onto a better demo until the last minute, then I won't be able to stop you. I certainly won't deduct points for such methods.

So yeah, it's basically your decision.

bufar makes a good point but since glib_jase beat it any way it no longer matters, at least for now.
Well done by the way. My run is so sloppy I wouldn't be surprised to see someone squeeze out another full second by the end.

If I get new runs, I always submit them immediately.
But I've had not much time in the last weeks, schools getting harder ;)

Grrr I was heading for 202+ and I gobbed the very last jump so the final rocket caught me. My shift key took some abuse after that :<

It was by no means a perfect run either, 202.50 is probably possible with the route I'm using. The 0th is there for the taking ... I'm not going to have time to play this weekend.

It is a tough round, but you guys should quite ya jibber-jabberin. I, for one, am extremely appreciative of Seneschal for taking the time and effort to run this comp.

Only had a short time to play this round, but I'm looking forward to seeing all of your runs.

Actually, it isn't a tough round, nor is it a tough map, I just think this competition is reaalllyyy boring, that's all. So you're the one jibber-jabberin.

I guess I'm sorry? Now this may sound crazy so brace yourself, but I don't feel the same way as you.

Thanks, but like I said in a previous post I had a much better run where I also hit the corner jump to get the top gold quicker - I just messed up right at the end.

Not yet you're not! There's still another two maps in the group stages to go.
