Sonava. The thing about vista is that it doesn't just lag randomly. It actually doesn't even lag that much. But it's like it times its lags just so, so that they occur at the most critical point of a run, such as right before jumping of the side off a bounceblock. This makes creating decent runs extremely tedious and might describe my steady decline in highscores and skill. The keyboard attached to the computer I used to use, (happily running xp I might add), has an up arrow that has felt the bloody wrath of my incessant smashing for nearly two years and is practically unusable anymore. Someday though, I will either upgrade my vista laptop to windows 7 or xp (depending on windows 7's ability to run n properly), or get a new keyboard for my xp desktop. I will rise to the top of the top 20's list and maybe get a few 0th's too. Glorious! ...Realistically this'll probably never happen, but it's somethin' to dream about eh?

Excellent. I now need only 102 more highscores to tie the bottom of the top20 list! Let's see, when did I get my first one? About a year ago. So at this rate, I should be there by... October 2019!!!! I just can't wait!

I've decided that, starting from now, I should concentrate more on the original v1.4 levels/episodes instead of NReality's 100-199, so hopefully I'll get there faster.

Doesn't Vista also do that lag for about 6000 milliseconds when loading the last object in a level? Well that's what happened to me, anyway...

I have a problem with NHigh on my computer - see here. I'm mentioning it here because I think that the people who are more likely to know how to solve it would browse this forum more than the troubleshooting forum. Any ideas on how to resolve it?

There is a thread at old metanet forum which very much made me think that TGM is a cheater. It is a thread where TGM and L3X battling at 51-2, each surpass each other scores back and forth in a very short amount of time.
It's very much like that they are just pushing the speedhack more and more to the limit.

Unless he can make a clean run comparable to the current 51-2 score with NReality legit mode, otherwise I can't help to think that he's a speedhack cheater just like L3X

TGM if you are a speedhack cheater it's time for you to confess. If you are a legit player it's time to prove yourself clean by using NReality to play.

Oh, and, Unreality, sorry about this, but I've just retired from highscoring the in-game levels on NReality. I'll still continue to use legit mode, though.

N-high is intended for the original Metanet servers and is only episodes 00-99. (Plus even N-highx was well before the advent of legit mode).

Superpok, scroll up a bit in the thread. I have stopped highscoring the in-game levels in NReality, focusing my attention to the metanet highscore tables and the Numa highscore tables.

Take as many NReality scores as you want. I recently did a statistical comparison between the metanet tables and the NReality tables and there just isn't any link between having loads of in-game NReality highscores and being good at N.

I took the number of level and episode top20 scores for each person in the NReality highscores and added them together to get a combined total of level/episode scores for each player. I took it down from poppinfresh to clux which is 21 people (I meant to do 20, but I forgot... it doesn't matter that much anyway.)

Then I used NHigh to see how many scores each of them had on v1.4. And then I calculated the product moment correlation coefficient for the 21 pairs of numbers using some program off the Internet.

What the product moment means is that a value close to +1 indicates strong correlation between N v1.4 and NReality highscores, i.e. being good at one means being good at the other. A value close to -1 indicates that being good at one means being bad at the other. A value between -0.5 and +0.5 indicates that they're basically not linked.

I got 0.042.

Yes there is. Legit mode only counts runs using NReality v5a or later, which was released December 07 or somewhere around there. The Metanet boards count everything done with any version of N v1.4 (and maybe earlier versions that had less episodes, i.e. v1.3, I'm not sure about that), and I think v1.4 was released on May 15, 2005. The online highscores were added with v1.3, on July 2, 2004. v1.4 added the last 40 episodes. So assuming that the boards weren't reset, for episodes 00-59, the Metanet boards have had 5 years of competition, and ep 60-99 have had 4 years. Also, the Metanet boards are notoriously unprotected against hackers (see 00-0 highscore table for a prime example), and also has been known to accept cheated runs as legitimate (kryX_orange, crappitrash are the ones I can think of off the top of my head as generally accepted to have been speedhacked/cheated). Hence, I don't really pay too much attention to the legit mode tables on 00-99 (again, no offense to Unreality) because they haven't had anywhere near as much time to get competitive.

Also, could you maybe add in the pmcc to your table for everyone, 999_Springs? (I feel like there should be an easy way to shorten your name, or give an easy nickname...)

yeah, i know that, but it seems silly that people highscore on the metanet boards anymore, i mean sure they are more competative, but why not highscore on the Nreality boards and make them competitive instead of pointing out that they aren't.

As far as epsiodes 00-99 go, if you score them on NReality, it goes to both Unreality's and Metanet's boards, so we're good on that count. But 100-199, most of us (me included) completed or mostly completed before NReality v5a came out, and we haven't been bothered enough to go back through and recomplete things that we've already highscored. Especially if its a really good run, to get it to be legit, we may have to take a slower run because we simply can't get as good as we did before. Personally, if I do anything with NReality levels, I do it with legit mode off. This way, runs that xaelar or ska, for example, have that were made with Nreality v4 still appear on the boards and give me an idea of how good my run is.

Another reason against your argument is that if you consider it with legit mode off, I'd say all but one or two of the active Metanet highscorers have already done the levels. So there simply aren't enough people active to make the boards competitive. Going off of my own recollections, I'd say there's probably between 10 and 15 active highscorers in the community, and I know that at least a couple of them either don't have NReality (macrohenry), or only got it recently (glib_jase) so they can't really be counted on to contribute. So maybe I could do a little more to help with this, but I do have limited time available, and at the moment I want to finish going through the Metanet episodes before I start focusing on NReality.

Sorry if I misled you by saying "I got 0.042". The product moment is a single value applied to the whole list of pairs of scores. You can clearly see that there is no correlation between the two lists.

As for my username, it comes from a Simpsons episode (where Bart Simpson ruins Springfield's chances of hosting the Olympics) and the exact reference is here (you need speakers). I'm not sure how you can shorten it, really.

(Lastly, why is it that there are three hackers playing NReality legitimately? I find that weird. (They are blueheat45, ELEPHANT_S***, and bugfinder. All three have hacked 00-1. The last two actually have some half-decent legit NUMA scores.))

If it is, I find it rather strange. To my knowledge, they're not the same person, and I am also not aware of any forum account by macrohenry, leaving me to wonder how he became aware of NReality. But if he's doing underclock runs, why is he not using NReality when doing normal highscores? And why the different name?

As for the hackers, maybe they found NReality and started playing legitimately after they hacked. Although, I seem to recall ELEPHANT_SHIT to have used the practice mode glitch on the userlevels multiple times, implying that he's still not completely legit. Then again, there's a pretty good chance my memory is faulty on this matter, as I don't pay that much attention to who's done that with the userlevels whenever I chance across it.
