Also, infunity.com has me 3 frames more TLS than NHigh, but the Score Comparer that Unreality put out a few years ago doesn't show any differences. So apparently, there's a level that I improved 3 frames on, and submitted sometime when the Metanet servers were down, but the infunity servers were up. I don't feel like going through and manually comparing all 500 scores to find the culprit... Is there anybody here who can do a bit of script magic to let me know what I need to resubmit?

So, yes, I worked on this level for an hour and a half. Also, what really made me figure out why NReality and NHigh give me different TLS is because after my first good agd run, NReality showed me tied with lookatthis, while NHigh showed me 3 frames behind. I really thought it would be amazing to have a tie in the top5 of TLS, but because NHigh didn't show a tie, I decided I needed to just improve and make it truly official. So, sadly, no tie in any official rankings, unless Eddy decides to make an exception as the official rankings keeper (even though he's been extremely derelict in his duties of late....)

Fortunately I don't have classes during the exam period, so I can be myself and study at night naturally :P

By the way, I've updated the wikia articles for xaelar, swipenet, episode ownages, grandmaster, and some of EddyMataGallos. A complete statistical update is due, since it has been exactly 7 months since the last update for the current GM (and several other pages). How about it, Eddy?

In this time I've also refined a lot my model for making rankings as well, which is why I'd like to keep doing them myself, "ain't nobody put the same love I do!". I've been pretty busy lately in 2015, but that's all over (as suggests my activity :P) so I promise I'll have them done asap :P I'm actually leaving today on a little trip but I'll be back on the 18th, and I hope to get them done as soon as possible, and hopefully start the monthly frequency again.

Don't worry too much though, as I've personally checked the changes that there have been since the last rankings update, and before the 0ths that were taken this month, there wasn't even enough activity as there used to be in a single month previously, so you won't feel much difference in these upcoming rankings xD i.e. they won't need to be super long or anything.

Or not... I don't mind, but if it can save you time and effort that can be better spent on making a killer Blur run or taking another 0th or two, then that's a net gain for the community :P

Introduction

Hey there guys, it's that time of the "month" again, a new Rankings installment! So the lack of activity and the bustle in my academic life caused a big delay in this production, but it's finally here. This "month" - realistically, half a year - saw 44 distinct 0ths being taken, out of which 10 were battled a total 26 times, for a net total of 60 0th exchanges.

Let's proceed to thoroughly analyze those 0ths that are worth it, whether it is because of the time saved, the changes in it's route, or the consequences it had. In descending order by time saved, we first have 06-3, which was deeply innovated by jp with a complete rerouting. The classic route which swipe was using skipped 5 pieces of gold, including two chambers which were not being visited and an isolated piece. jp visited both chambers, albeit the time required, and the omission of another isolated piece - missing only two now - only allowed him to just barely beat swipenet by 6 frames. Later on though, he managed to take that extra piece and still beat the very final bottleneck, hence cleaning almost 2 seconds more. macro came afterwards and cleaned 9 more frames, and finally I took a shot and cleaned 8 more, leaving it very close to max with the current route (I estimate 2 frames max). The total gain in this map was 2.275 seconds. This also marked the beginning of the downfall of swipenet.

Moving on we have 59-4. macro changed the leftmost column route by using the speedrun version which was surprisingly not being used in highscore mode. This allowed him to beat the drone at the top, previously a serious bottleneck. He mantained the cleanliness of his run for the second half, and ended up 2.100 seconds faster than my original 0th.

No other level broke the 2-second improvement barrier, but we did have 5 levels over the second barrier. First of all we have 45-4. The previous 0th by macro was using Izzy's bottom section which involves a very unreliable chaingun drone movement. Badass jp, tired of randomness, looked for alternatives and came up with a much faster route, albeit he only cleaned 3 frames due to some sloppiness mainly in the ending. macro stepped into the action and designed another route for the middle section, cleaning almost a second. Ultimately, I returned to jp's route in the hopes that it was faster, and after some cleaning it proved to be so, as it granted me 1/3 of a second more. Consequently, the net gain for this map was 1.300 seconds.

Next one is 33-3. I used jp's route - which was tied with me at that point - and innovated it with a tricky cj at the bottom. This and some cleaning granted me a 1.150 seconds lead over jp. Then, we have 11-1, a level which macro innovated with a super fast ending execution for an almost full second lead over my old 0th. I then cleaned about .2 more, and so the total gain in this map was 1.100.

Continuing on, we find 55-0, a level which jp used to hold. macro pulled off a neatly executed run, which included a couple alterations in the first half to secure some initial lead, and that culminated in a significantly more clean second half, allowing him to beat the top seeking drone, for a final 1.075 lead. Not bad for a mainly cleaning job right?

The last of the big cleansing appeared in 70-2. jp showcased some more of his innovative instinct again and came up with a whole new route for it, only sharing little bits in common with the previous route. This allowed him to clean half a second over my previous 0th run. I then gave it a whirl, and cleaned it for about another half a second. A final gain of 1.075 was attained here, just like in the previous level.

Let's now move on to the smaller gains. Starting off we have 45-0, which I innovated by adding a final reverse cj to best nadroj by 0.700 seconds. Then comes 32-4, a classic 0th from the pre-NReality era by macrohenry, which once again jp fully rerouted for a .200 gain. This was macro's oldest 0th, dating from early 2009, and had also been his first 0th ever when he took it back in 2006, so of course he had personal attachment to it. He retook it with a stunningly clean run for a final gain of 0.625 seconds.

Next comes 34-1 with yet another contribution by jp. He developed a new middle section for the level, taking the switches first and the gold next, and managed to clean 0.575 off ska's tight 0th, which back when he developed the route by adding the in-between the mines jump had over 2 seconds of a lead over the previous dark's 139 seconds route, which was itself almost 3 seconds faster than the classic route by Lim on the 136's. Now jp has pulled the level over the 142 barrier.

An identical improvement occurred in 51-1, in which I bested jp by 0.575 by sheer cleaning. Moving on we had a brand-new run by xela in 41-3. He showed that executing the beginning fast enough allows one to lure the right drone before hitting the wall, hence avoinding the need for a little wait to lure it after it hits the wall, and cleaning time. I then cleaned it a bit more to pull it over the next second mark, for a final gain of 0.550.

Then, another classic fell down in 92-3, a further macrohenry's old-era NRealitized run. jp, almost rubbing it in our faces, innovated the beginning and ended up with a much faster first third of the level, allowing him a consistent approach to getting macro's drone pass before the exit switch, on the top right corner, which previously only macro was executing. He cleaned .200, and macro of course wouldn't let this stand and cleaned an additional .300 for a final 0.475 net gain in the level.

Then we had 81-3, an already clean run by van, which jp smashed by 0.425 with a painstakingly clean run, mostly by polishing it barring some nuances he executed here and there. xela made another appearance recently, when he took 49-0 by 0.400 seconds with a very clever change coming out of the inner bounceblock chamber, showing potential for a big time saver here as well.

Moving on we come across 19-1, another swipenet 0th that jp attacked. He revised the route to now take missing isolated piece of gold, being just fast enough to surpass the non-AGD route swipenet and others were doing. macro then cleaned it by 3 tenths of a second, and ultimately I snatched one more frame out of it, for a final gain of 0.350, and leaving the ending very tight due to laser drone bottlenecks.

Next we have 10-4, alledgely jp's oldest 0th on the boards thanks to the route he developed in 2012 together with the effort of van, besting the classic lat 0th by 2 seconds. This time I just barely took it by cleaning it and adding an innov at the top left, a tricky walljump, which saves about .200. jp returned to retake it by .200, and finally I recovered it by another .100 by cleaning. The final gain here was 0.325.

Moving on we have 93-3, which I started taking off macro by a mere frame by cleaning his route, which you may know dark devised as a little improvement several years ago. jp, always with his innovative nose sniffing for potential victims, added two innovation in both sections of the map to shave a couple frames, which I then used to clean several more and keep the 0th. The final gain was 0.200.

Then we have macro in 09-2, he pulled a very clean run and added a corner kick in the leftmost diamond shape to outclean me by 0.175 seconds. Afterward, we have 02-1, in which I outcleaned swipenet by 0.175. This was the last remaining 0th for swipenet, and so he is out of the boards now. Then, in 20-3, I managed a new corner kick with much less power, allowing me to beat macro's run by 0.150.

And then we find 33-2, a level for which I developed a brand-new second half which saves about 10 frames, although I only cleaned 5 due to sloppiness.The following one is 08-0, which I innovated by adding a corner kick and saving 0.125 seconds over van's previous 0th run. Then on 28-3, I added a triple jump and some cleaning to outdo Kool by another 0.125 seconds.

And now for the most minor gains, we had 32-2, another level which jp innovated by elaborating a new second half, although only ending up 3 frames faster than the previous 0th by myself. After that we had 75-0 which jp took by 2 frames by adding a slight alteration on the bottom part, taking glib's last surviving 0th. 67-2 which again jp took by a frame via a clever change at the beginning, taking Just4TheFun's last 0th as well as NRealitizing the level. And finally 87-2 in which jp pulled off several different small variations with a lot of potential for a net frame gain over my old 0th.

Breaking news: I had already finished writting this when it happened, but hadn't posted yet so I edited it in. We have another appearance by xela in 46-1, a level which he has taken by outcleaning Hendor by a frame. Hendor has fallen down to a single 0th left.

As a final note I'd like to mention that, while there were 41 levels taken, I've discussed the 28 ones in which there was something pertinent to say, whether it was because of big time saved, innovations produced, or consequences the 0th had. The other 13 - unless I'm missing something - were regular 0ths taken by cleaning and nuances not really worth mentioning. They're still Metanet 0ths though!

Episode scene

And now, in the episode department, there were 2 episodes being taken. The most relevant one if I may so was Ep 33, in which I managed to pull off the so called 'perfect episode' or 'episode ace', or however you might want to call it, which essentially consists on taking all 5 level 0ths within an episode run, hence not missing any time. This, a fortiori, implies an episode ownage. The episode ended up being 9.250 seconds faster than macro's previous 0th.

The second one was Ep 10, which I took from macro by 1.825 seconds by basically cleaning. This episode in fact included 4 level 0ths, only missing macro's astounding level 2, and indeed prompted me to search for a plausible perfect episode.

Fact summary

Apart from the number of 0ths taken and battled, and the total score gains which I'll go through in the conclusion, there are some more feats which I haven't mentioned during the highscoring rundown, or that I've mentioned when it was pertinent but that I'll now proceed to summarise in order.

First of all, we had 3 Non-NReality level 0ths NRealitized, namely 32-4, 67-2 and 92-3, all of them thanks to jp. Seems like he's been working on that list, which has now been reduced to only 4 entries, of which one is tied in NReality. The cheated runs list remains at 6. You can check both lists below.

Secondly, just like in the previous rankings installment, we had 3 player's losing their last 0th and hence falling of the leaderboards. As I've mentioned in the rankings, these were glib_jase, swipenet and Just4TheFun, the latter of which was not an NReality player.

Thirdly, as it has been left patent in the rundown, jp has consolidated himself as a top-notch player, and it's a must to mention that he has passed Kool in the 0th rankings, now standing 2nd both in the overall and level boards.

In contrast, this is the first time we can see both xaelar and vankusss under the 10 0th mark since the dawn of earth, something certainly shocking.

Fourthly, in the total level score territory, golfkid accomplished his mission of passing the 3-player peloton - Lim, lat and eru - and is now standing 3rd right below xela working his way to the 71.3k TLS mark.

Fifthly, this period of time marked the first registered time a perfect episode has been achieved, with my Ep 33 run.

Sixthly, the Community has managed to reach 72.2k of TLS! Since we reached 72k in early 2013, we've been going at a rate of around 100 seconds a year, let's keep this pace going on.

Conclusion

I'll finish off the rankings, as usual, by pointing out the total score gains the community had during this past month. The community gained a total 17.600 seconds of Total Level Score, averaging slightly over 0.425 seconds per level, that is, 17 frames, and also averaging 5 frames a day since the last rankings. On the other hand, we gained 11.075 seconds of Total Episode Score, with an average of almost 5.550 seconds per episode. As we gained more TLS than TES, the difference between both increased by 6.525 seconds, standing at 347.400 seconds.

First off, thanks for the writeup, especially being as long as it is after so long in between. Couple things I found though.

1) The very first level, you talk of "swip", instead of "swipe" :P

2) 34-1 was not ska's innovation to jump between the mines. Looking at this (Thanks zapkt!) you can see it was probably darkshadow's innov. This jumped out to me because I knew that I once held that 0th, just wasn't sure if I was the first one to use that jump between the mines. Seeing as it was over 6 years ago, I think I can be forgiven. Also, you can see that ska never held the 0th there until well after that route was established. At least, that seems to be the way that I recall it. Maybe the man himself can comment on this.

3) Nothing about the writeup, just something I found humorous. I tend to look at the levels as I get to them, to refresh my memory of what they look like. Happened to glance at the leaderboard for 32-4, and some names jumped out at me: wrestle_me_for_it in 19th (hilarious), and nigger_chaser in 12th (very interesting... apparently I changed my race without knowing it...)

All I remembered for sure was that this map traded hands several times within a fairly small time frame, although I was fairly sure I invented it; however, I began to doubt this when I found no mention of it as one of my innovations on my personal wikia page. I was thinking that Xaelar... ahem... LastFairyTail would be able to shed some light on this, but I decided to do some NHigh research myself, which ultimately proved to be inconclusive.

Ska started this exciting week off with a great route change on 34-1. He use a great between mines wall jump in the middle of the map to save over a second off of golf's original 0th. This trick added some more difficulty to an already tough map, with the skipping the FG innovation is still being used in conjunction with the between mine wall jump. Not content with his run Ska then improved his new 0th 3 more times to get another .300 seconds out of the map. Enter Last_FairyTail and the greatest map competition we have had in a while. LFT took Ska's new 0th with a small innovation which saved .550 seconds. Ska wasn't going to give up to the anonymous LFT and he took the map back by 4 frames, only to lose it again to LFT. This happened two more times and finally at the end of the week LFT came out on top 2.375 seconds faster than Golf's original 0th. Ska also took two more 0ths this week. He took 62-4 by a frame from van and he took Ep34 with the new route on -1 saving 2.5 seconds over Eru. 999_Springs and swipenet also joined in the fun this week both taking one 0th each. 999 took Ep33 from Eru by .525 seconds, and swipenet took 44-3 from van by a frame. As a whole the community went +2.900 seconds of total level score and +3.025 seconds of total episode score.
