Yep, exactly right Conen, so you can't change the tileset while editing objects/playtesting.

This was really hard to do. I'm a slow mapper.

Since contestants from now on literally only need less than 30 minutes to make their maps, how about we cut down on the amount of time for them to submit for the next rounds? I understand leaving it for this week so people can still sign up (also part of the reason why I'm posting this comment :P) but after this first round I think we should lower the amount of time to submit a map so that we can keep this rolling and not have people lose interest which happens all too often. I was thinking that we could do anywhere from 5 to 3 days for map submission, and then one or two for judging, or just start the next round and have the results posted mid-way through. Just spilling out some of my thoughts...

Yea, good point. I believe one day down per week (for a few weeks) will ease things down a bit.

Romaniac-Who’s behind the door? (207783)
Aesthetics – 13/20
Gameplay – 16/20
Replayability – 9/10
Total - 38/50
Weapon of this map is its high value of replayability. All of enemies worked efficient (except floorguard, it acted as a mine), and the route is not linear.
Who’s behind the door? I guess it’s fun.
aesthetics: 15/20
gameplay: 13/20
replayability: 8/10
total: 35/50
aesthetics: 16/20
gameplay: 15/20
replayablity: 8/10
total: 39/50
I kept trying to really like this map. Always very excited to replay and then left feeling underwhelmed.

aesthetics: 44/60
gameplay: 44-3 (time violation - minor) = 41/60
replayability: 25/30
total: 110/150

TheBlackLion – Dazzled (207790)
Aesthetics – 17/20
Gameplay – 15/20
Replayability – 7/10
Total - 39/50
Nice tiles for 12 mins. Gausses keep the tempo in an appropriate level, and laser drones provide effective guard for non-ignorable golds.
aesthetics: 13/20
gameplay: 13/20
replayability: 6/10
total: 32/50
All-around decent. It was fun trying to outwit the lasers, but I wanted grabbing the exit key to be some challenge.
aesthetics: 14/20
gameplay: 12/20
replayability: 7/10
total: 33/50
Sorry, didn’t like it too much. I found the laser drones too hard and splaying outside their boundaries.

Aesthetics: 44/60
Gameplay: 40/60
Replayability: 20/30
Total: 104/150

DDRave – Falling Slowly (207829)
Aesthetics – 14/20
Gameplay – 18/20
Replayability – 8/10
Total - 40/50
Zap drones would be stupid, but if the map is clever, who cares about it?
aesthetics: 11/20
gameplay: 10/20
replayability: 7/10
total: 28/50
Felt like a highscoring map, and nothing more. I would replay to highscore, but only that, everything else felt dull.
aesthetics: 14/20
gameplay: 15/20
replayability: 8/10
total: 34/50
Liked how you made the spaces with 5 tiles, not E tiles. Great relief :).

Aesthetics: 39/60
Gameplay: 43/60
Replayability: 23/30
Total: 105/150

Sunset – The clockabout stock (207835)
Aesthetics – 14/20
Gameplay – 14/20
Replayability – 5/10
Total - 33/50
This map shows us you don’t need bunches of golds to provide fun. It’s enough to put them to right place.
aesthetics: 16/20
gameplay: 15/20
replayability: 5/10
total: 36/50
Gameplay surprised me. The gold was place tantalizingly close on the way to the exit key, and I just couldn't resist. Felt like a one-time challenge, though, not much desire to return.
aesthetics: 14/20
gameplay: 12/20
replayability: 5/10
total: 31/50
Pretty high gold difficulty level, but replayability low.

aesthetics: 44/60
gameplay: 41/60
replayability: 15/30
total: 100/150

LUKESV
Aesthetics – 14/20
Gameplay – 17/20
Replayability – 6/10
Total - 37/50
Two chainguns together highly improves the difficulty level that reduces the replayability. But if we check it out at total, gold placement and tile use grants amusement.
aesthetics: 15/20
gameplay: 14/20
replayability: 6/10
total: 35/50
A bit difficult for me to want to return to after completion, but the (good) challenge kept me engaged and fighting for an agd.
aesthetics: 12/20
gameplay: 10/20
replayability: 5/10
total: 29/50
HARD.

aesthetics: 42/60
gameplay: 41/60
replayability: 17/30
total: 100/150

Conen__TG_ - Do You Guys Hate Me Yet? (207897)
Aesthetics –18 /20
Gameplay – 14/20
Replayability – 7/10
Total - 39/50
It’s obvious Conen__TG_ spent hard work in this limited time on the aesthetics.
aestheics: 12/20
gameplay: 11/20
replayability: 4/10
total: 27/50
The haphazard aesthetics seemed to mirror the gameplay, neither of which really suited me. Both had their moments, but after spending a while trying to gather up the scattered gold I grew frustrated, grabbed the exit key and leapt to the finish, not looking back.
aesthetics: 17/20
gameplay: 14/20
replayability: 4/10
total: 35/50
Aesthetics good, but scattered gameplay.

aesthetics: 47/60
gameplay: 39/60
replayability: 15/30
total: 101/150

1st - Romaniac (110)
2nd - DDRave (105)
3rd - TheBlackLion (104)
4th - Conen__TG_ (107)
5th - Sunset and Lukesv (100)

Who gets the aesthetics bonus??? (hopefully someone that didn't do this round's map yet).

Conen!!! You get two more minutes on this round however you want to spend it - all on tileset, all on objects, a little of both, you choose (but you have to specify how you use your time) in the description of your map.

wait, what if we want to start with a full tileset? would you allow E tiles then, or do you want that not to happen at all?

Also, should we tag ticktock and rn2?

For round 3 please consider all these questions when making the post, because I am STILL confused with the rules here. Can we use bouncies and stuff? And you said no E-tiles... Be true to what you say, don't give in to pressure and say ok fine, you can fill in with them... That's just dumb. Now it's just going to be harder for people who don't start with a full e-tile set
(hit h in NED?). I always start with an open map. I won't know where e-tiles are allowed or not. I think there should be some rule specification before this round goes any further.

Thank you.

Ok, sorry. I was thinking starting with an h map should make things easier, but things really depend on the type of map needed. As long as it does not affect the gameplay, this should be fine. I personally don't like confined maps, preferring to have the whole thing open. I was actually thinking that I was being too loose, so I had a strong internal debate. About your confusion, each round has a restriction, with each one ONLY for one round. DDRave, you might want to change the whole thing outside the tileset be open, for 3 points off. Since I already said it was allowed, I guess I will allow it. Next round I will be more strict.

ROUND TWO ENDS!!!!

Not much turnout. I might pm instead of leaving you guys to your own devices. I'll pm so hopefully some dudes will at least submit a map.
Sorry I'm late though.

ROUND TWO RESULTS!!!

Sayko -

DDRave – X-Factor (208066)
Aesthetics – 13/20
Gameplay – 16/20
Replayability – 7/10
Total - 36/50
When you pass an obstacle, does that become an x-factor? No, it does not. You will face that again to improve your score.

Sunset – billy joe and bobby sue (208068)
Aesthetics – 13/20
Gameplay – 13/20
Replayability – 6/10
Total - 32/50
This map is eligible for speedrun, but that’s all.

Romaniac – Fire Bomb (208331)
Aesthetics – 16/20
Gameplay – 18/20
Replayability – 8/10
Total - 42/50
If Romaniac would say “i made this map in 10 hours”, i would believe it. Only one aggressive enemy provides great fluency.

TheBlackLion – Animus Vox (208422)
Aesthetics – 15/20
Gameplay – 16/20
Replayability – 6/10
Total - 37/50
Innovative gameplay for a quickly-made map.

Aero -
DDRave
aesthetics: 9/20
gameplay: 13/20
replayability: 9/10
total: 31/50
While I found the aesthetics to be a bit sub-par the gameplay was decent fun and addictive as oyster crackers!

Sunset
aesthetics: 10/20
gameplay: 6/20
replayability: 2/10
total: 18/50
Looked alright, but if there was greater meaning to this map I failed to see it. Overly difficult, a lot of those mines just didn't feel like they needed to be there and excluding that it was still pretty boring and didn't have much going on at all.

romaniac
aesthetics: 16/20
gameplay: 15/20
replayability: 7/10
total: 38/50
The title helped me imagine that I was inside a volcano, and boosted the aesthetics score. The chaingun was pretty effective and not overbearing. Fun/good stuff overall.

TheBlackLion
aesthetics: 16/20
gameplay: 18/20
replayability: 10/10
total: 44/50
I adored this map. I found the gameplay to be quirky and cute, and the main concept cool and unique-ish-enough. Could totally see myself returning to play this anytime, and enjoying it just as much.

myself -
DDRave
aesthetics: 5/20
gameplay: 15/20
replayability: 3/10
It seemed to lack, but I don't know what.

Sunset
aesthetics: 15/20
gameplay: 10/20
replayability: 2/10
At first, I couldn't get past that humongous jump. And didn't want to try again.

Romaniac
aesthetics: 16/20
gameplay: 17/20
replayability: 7/10
pretty nice.

TheBlackLion
aesthetics: 12/20
gameplay: 17/20
replayability: 5/10
The mines seemed oddly placed. (advertising your mapmaking contest in a map for a mapmaking contest?)

Total -

DDRave -
Aesthetics: 27/60
Gameplay: 44/60
Replayability: 19/30
Total: 90/150

Sunset -
Aesthetics: 38/60
Gameplay: 29/60
Replayability: 10/30
Total: 77/150

Romaniac -
Aesthetics: 48/60
Gameplay: 50/60
Replayability: 22/30
Total: 120/150

TheBlackLion -
Aesthetics: 43/60
Gameplay: 38/60
Replayability: 21/30
Total: 102-10 (late)= 92/150

1st place: Romaniac!!
2nd place: TheBlackLion!
3rd place: DDRave!

2 minute bonus goes to ... Romaniac!!!
