It was a minimalistic map. that's the theme.Erik-Player wrote:The concept for this week was Minimalism. >_>Daikenkai wrote:

AGD
The concept is the trick jumps. Each map should have a concept. It's why it's called the conceptual map contest.

Righto, here's my addition. Hopefully it will get me through round one, although I am unsure what concept it embodies, I just attempted to create a minimalistic race. I don't actually understand why we are making a distinction between concepts and themes here, they involve the same form of execution.
Regardless, I'll call my concept - Racing up the side of a steep bank.

Nope, it's not too late to join. Just post your map here when it's done, and you'll be good.RedSham wrote:Is it to late to join? Because if it isn't, I guess I'll join.
Also, for anyone that posted the map data, when (if you submit it to NUMA, I won't force that rule this round), please edit your post so that the link is there too, thanks.

Ska and DDRave, I loved your maps. Here's mine:
http://nmaps.net/158588
Neat map number.
EDIT: AGD on map, I'm not clear as to whether it's required or not.
SECOND EDIT: Concept is boxiness. I don't know if we need one of those, either.

Not many of these maps have that good of concepts. A few are just average jumpers or action maps without anything out of the ordinary or conceptual...

Ok, listen up.
When I mean a concept, I mean that you're supposed to add some kind of odd innovation into your map. It's not a matter of making a map, and then deciding what the concept is after you've made it. What I'm aiming for is creativity, innovation, new ideas, and all of that. Does that make more sense to you guys?
This is an example of something having a clear concept, and it's innovative as well. Something like this would get a higher score in the "Concept" category of the competition.
This does have a concept, but isn't innovative, in which this map would score less than another map with innovation.
As for theme, the theme is...a theme. It's meant to give the map a specific...theming. In this case, the theme is minimalism (Using a minimal amount of objects, while getting as much out of those objects as you can). Whether or not that contradicts with your concept is your problem, and you have to find away around it.
For example:
This has a more minimalistic theme, and thus would score more in the "Theme" category.
This on the other hand would score much less because it's not minimalistic at all.
----------
Anyways, I hope that clears up any confusion for you guys. If you want to submit a different map after reading this, feel free, because I'm not starting the judging until Friday.

Shit. I didn't actually know we were supposed to have a concept... I thought the overriding theme was all. My map is sorta minimalist, but doesn't have a concept. And it's too late for me to submit a different good map.

"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by."
So this is a day late I tried to get it finished yesterday but I was tired here it is anyway Its up to you whether you include it (although I would like tto know if you are considering it)
Pathological 1 - By River or Road
Is a bot race with a river and a road. Its pretty minimalist only one enemy fairly simple tiles (yes there are a lot of one-ways but they have a simple purpose and I don't think they invade on the minimalist theme)
I'll post it on numa this evening have a look
edit here it is on numa
