TRO, would it be possible to get a one-time ranking of total Metanet level and episode scores with the next rankings? I think it would be interesting to see how the standards have changed since NReality has come out, and where the newcomers (myself included) stand compared to the old greats.

Wish granted. After much turmoil working with visual basic I made an excel macro that downloads everyone's highscore data from the metanet servers and sums the proper data points to get everyone's total metanet level score and total metanet episode score. I only did this for the 20 players in the top-20 rankings assuming they would have the highest, but if anyone would like a particular person looked up I can do that upon request. Also once I make a few changes to the macro I will post the file so that everyone can have the opportunity to look up anyone's total scores on their own.

This may be a bigger deal for those players who have been around since the old days where total level score was a big battle. However we have been unable to calculate total level score with Nhigh because of what NReality does to the .sol file. So after years with total level score being unranked I present to thee...

We had a great ten days since the last rankings. A staggering 16 0ths were taken with several more being battled over and changing hands multiple times. With those 16 new 0ths came 6.125 seconds of community total level score improvement; showing that even after six years of still competition we are still finding big innovations. In fact there were two 1+ second innovations this week.

Swipenet, in the midst of all of the competition manage to swoop in and swipe up a 0th on 24-0. He remained almost tied with Eru through out the entire level until the last corner shove grabbing the last switch he was able to pull ahead and clean up the ending sagging 6 frames and securing the 0th.

Vankusss suffered pretty big losses this week losing an episode owange on Ep08, six previously owned 0ths, and two more 0ths in battles. However, he was able to secure a 0th on 31-4 and a join the now 5 way tie on 84-1. Van's week began great. He started it off taking 38-0 from Eddy, improving upon Eddy's use of my bbbwj innovation. Meanwhile Ska quietly stepped in and took 8-1, first by 3 frames then by 6 more, breaking up van's episode owange. Van quickly retaliated and took back his 0th and owange by 5 frames. Van then set his sights on LAT's 31-4. Van cleaned LAT's first 3/4ths of the map and then made a great route change and threw in a ballsy last second corner jump to save a huge 1.275 seconds. This is when things started to go south for van. Eddy took 38-0 back by 6 frames along with 5 other 0ths van previously held. Ska also took back 8-1 causing van to lose the owange. Van was able to salvage the end of the week with the tied 0th on 84-1 meaning that our current 0th overall player netted -4 0ths this week.

Ska, like swipenet, only netted one 0th this week, but he had to battle for his. Ska took 8-1 from van breaking up his episode owange. He then improved his run in hopes of securing it. That wasn't quite enough because van came right back over the top of him defending his territory. Ska then sat in wait for a while until he unleashed a .425 second improvement securing the 0th to the end of the week.

xaelar spent most of this week silent taking two losses on 38-0 and 38-1 both by Eddy. These two 0ths also broke up xaelar's episode owange on Ep38, the second owange broken up this week. Later in the week 999_Springs was trying to take 74-3 from xaelar. After many tries he managed to score a tying run. Upon 999 tying the 0th almost immediately xaelar improved his 0th by 4 frames. Come to find xaelar has never lost this 0th since the day he took it from JF years ago and he had no intention of letting this be the time that changes. Finally as the second to last 0th taken this week xaelar threw down arguably the craziest run of the week. After A_P took 66-1 with his great innovation Raif went to work creating an incredible MDB run that utilizes 3 corner jumps. And while everyone else watched Raif's run and saw another great impossible MDB run, xaelar saw it as a challenge. In no time xaelar executed Raif's route and took the 0th by a ridiculous .475 seconds.

And now I suppose I have to talk about how Eddy took 11 0ths this week huh? Yes you read that right Eddy took 11 0ths this week. He took 11 0ths with a combination of great innovations and cleaning like a maid on adderall. Eddy's incredible week started by breaking up xaelar Ep owange by out pacing him on 38-0. He then used my innovation improving his run by over a second. This was also the only 0th Eddy lost this week, but that was short lived when he one upped van and secured the 0th. Eddy's cleaning spree consisted of dusting 2 frames off 36-1, 5 frames off 36-3, 8 frames off 37-2, 1 frame off 39-3, 4 frames off 41-1, and 10 frames off 44-4. Eddy
made a bit more significant contributions on three more maps. On 37-0 Eddy threw down a near perfect run making LAT look just plain slow, far from an easy feat. He was able to save .550 seconds. On 39-1 Eddy became the only other person to pull of Lim's RCJ route, but not only that he took it one step further. Eddy was fast enough where he was able to execute Raif's MDB route skipping the unnecessary wall jump Lim does. He out ran Lim here to the tune of 3 frames. Last but not least Eddy took down Lim on 41-4, one of Lim's longest standing 0ths. Eddy did this with one of the most simplistic yet genius innovations I have ever seen. He does not waste time getting the top 3 gold on the first climb in the gold room. He saves those gold for when you exit the room. Simple and brilliant. This innovation helped him shave 9 frames off Lim's run.

I have to say that I am a little surprised that I'm not quite in the top 10 of level score, and also didn't think that there were 9 people with 70k. My idea was that there would be 7 at that level, although it is very nice to see that j_f was able to get there before he left. Does anybody know if he was the first one? There's gotta be some more people that we just haven't thought of yet that are up at the 67k/68k level, and I think that Izzy and Chouse aren't truly in the top-20.

As far as the episode score goes, another one that I do will put me in the top 5. I think this is very telling for how many of the top highscorers view episodes. Just like it feels good to see j_f in the level rankings, its heartwarming to see one of the old guard, jg9000, still up there for episode score. I think at this point, eru and even lat are secure in their positions but Lim could be overtaken. Thanks again for whipping this up TRO.

Your values are right, consistent with what I have submitted on NReality and what I have computed for xaelar... So you probably found the best way to do the rankings.


The easier way to make future stats of this is that everyone just resubmit every ep on NReality... like xaelar who actualy has 71k230 on NReality instead of 71k500

Ep score leaderboard has been forgotten even earlier than lvl score. I think Jg9000 had the lead for a long time. Most positions are secure, even LIM is over 70k equivalent.

Well, you give up easily. Ep score starts somewhere in the 80's column. Before that, every thing is just easy. A small exception for ep 69.
Go back to work =) It is a shame to not even have 70k.

The Metanet servers store every run that you have submitted to them. No matter what rank it is. That is why I used them. The problem with NReality is that over so many years people have lost their .sols making it impossible for them to submit all of the their runs to the servers. I wish we could, but sadly it is not so.

lat's numbers might be wrong. Something stranged happened with his scores and could have happened to others. I check pretty vigorously, but data validation can only do so much. Basically how I noticed was when the macro got lat's total level score it was over 72k, which obviously make no sense. When I scrolled through his data it seems that some how he submitted to ep64 was back in the day with very low scores, most likely his first completion. But then he submitted again and instead of overwriting those 5 level scores it doubled them. When I deleted the doubled scores his total level score came out like it aught to. I used data validation on his Ep scores and did no see any duplicates so I think that his total episode score is correct, but it seems strange that it would be different than NReality because I thought that all of the lat's scores made it on to NReality.

I am glad you enjoyed the rankings. I hope to instill some new competition in to total level highscoring once I finish my macro, so everyone can look them selves up.

Van you total level and episode scores could be a lot higher with out any effort, you don't have runs submitted for like 20 levels and a few episodes. Your probably looking at like +2k seconds just by clicking submit on every episode. Also think your perfectionist strategy wont work for total level scores, you cant have all of the 0ths lol. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try though.

Anyone can use this code on anybody. Open Python IDLE (assuming you have NHigh, you WILL DEFINITELY have this installed) and go to File -> New Window. If you don't get a new window, you're doing it wrong. Paste the above code into the window, save it as whatever you want, then hit F5. Type the name of the person whose total episode/level highscores you want into the main IDLE window, hit enter, and after about 20 seconds or so you should have the print-out of the total episode and level scores. Simple as that.

By the way, I have very little experience in coding stuff, there's probably a far faster way to get around most of what I've written, but this works; tell me if you find a bug.

Yeah, as you can see my program accounts for that. But the website DOES in fact have two episode scores for lookatthis on episode 64, which you haven't taken account of. I have his total episode score as 34368.6. The total level score agrees with yours though.

I'll try and get a better version of the total episode/level rankings in the next 30 minutes or so but I need to take a nap and do group theory and there's a Christmas party tonight at 10 so I don't know if I have time. :/

edit: There's a glitch where I haven't taken account of the fact that in late 2007 Unreality tried storing ep100+ scores on metanet's server for a little bit. I'll fix this now. Fixed, I think.

Thanks for the help 999, what is with your variable names though? O.o "xaelar_smells" hahaha. I think you may have some redundancies like you said though because my macro takes about 3 seconds to look up a single person and about 45 -1min to look up all 20 simultaneously. Though yours has the distinct advantage of taking care of all of the players in the same code. I am going to have to think of a way to get rid of lat's duplicate scores with out him having his own lookup code. Which is how i currently have it.

Without touching the core of the code, we can just execute it for a list of names, score both ep and lvl score values in an array, sort it and print it. The rankings will be done in 2 minutes. (the time to get all the scores...)

Another huge week by the community. 17 0ths were taken over the past 10 days, along with a kick ass battle and a bit of one-ups-man-ship. Though a combined effort of truly innovative route changes and cleaning like a crack head with a vacuum, the community increased the total level score by 5.575 seconds.

So... Where do I start it off. I suppose with our new golden boy Eddy. Eddy netted a ridiculous 9 0ths this week. Falling 1 shy of two weeks in a row at double digit gains. With those nine 0ths and the five 0th sir Lim lost this week, 3 of which Eddy took himself, Eddy passed Lim and entered the top-4 in the total 0th rankings. So a big congratulations to him. Eddy's nine 0ths came from a wide range of levels with a combination of innovations and pure cleaning. I'll go through in numeric order. On 4-0, a Lim 0th, Eddy worked with Raif to develop a new gold route. They found that skipping Lim unnecessary hop was enough almost half a second. Eddy executed the new route brilliantly and took down an ancient Lim 0th. Next up comes the great battle he had with van on 5-3. After van had taken down AP, Eddy came right over the top of him cleaning a nice chunk of frame out of the level. Van did no appreciate this one bit and came right back at him with a near one second complete route change, then in a bit of sportsmanship van encouraged Eddy to take down kryX, and he did just that. Eddy came back with a fantastic run 1.250 seconds faster than AP's original 0th. Consequently this has allowed me to say something I haven't in a long time, and kryX bites the dust, leaving him with only 8 0ths. [that said we do miss having the legit kryX around, so if he reads this, come and stop by for bit why don't ya?] Next up was another great innovation by Eddy on 19-4. He changed up the ending route to take down Eru by .675 seconds. Lim lost another 0th to Eddy on 21-2, when Eddy was able to pull off most of L3X's route, snagging himself more than half a second on Lim. Though since he did not pull off both innovations this does leave some room for any would be opportunists. Next up Eddy was able to do some cleaning on 3 of van's 0ths 23-4, 30-4, and 31-4. Almost done, Eddy was able to take 45-0 from Lim with just some good ol' fashion cleaning. And last, but certainly not least, Eddy was able to max out 84-1 with the current route, taking the 0th xaelar himself had just taken.

Xaelar took the second most amount of 0ths this week, taking six and netting five. Quite an active week for our 1st overall ranked player. With these five 0ths xaelar was able to tie van for 0th in total level 0ths and is now sitting only 1 0th back from total 0th rankings 0th. In this self proclaimed "surprise attack" xaelar was able to best the current 0th overall, van, on 19-0 and 27-4, putting him ever closer to taking back his former rank overall. He was also able to clean up Eru's 19-2 and edge 999 out by a frame on 27-3. We are fairly confident that 999 is currently in Germany scouring towns and villages, asking locals if they know a man named "xaelar." xaelar did have to defend one of his 0th this week as well. Swipenet innovated the end of his 19-1. Xaelar quite rapidly took his 0th back, now sitting .900 seconds faster than his previous 0th. Finally xaelar took a heroic 0th on 84-1, only to lose it just as quick as he took it. After last week when van and Eddy joined the already 3-way tie between JF, trib4l, and xaelar on 84-1, xaelar upped the ante and broke the five-way tie taking the 0th all of him self by a frame. After Raif previously proved that there was 2 frames left in the current route, Eddy saw the opportunity to secure a long term 0th for himself and one-upped xaelar and cut out another frame.

Vankusss, as always, threw his hat in the ring this week. He took several 0ths, but overall he lost 3 total 0ths. He fought a losing battle with Eddy on 5-3, but he was able to utilize Raif's route opening the door for someone to take down kryX and Eddy did just that. Other than that van was able to take two Lim 0ths of all things this week. First he took Lim down on 85-0 by a frame. A very impressive feat considering how clean Lim's run was. After that van was able to take my innovation on 22-3 and then change the drone section with his own innovation to best Lim by a fantastic .325 seconds.

Swipenet made some crucial moves this week. He was able to innovate the end of xaelar's 19-1 to save a solid chunk of time and get himself the necessary 4 0ths to join the total 0th rankings after xaelar bumped JF down to 3 with his 84-1. swipe then lost this 0th to xaelar, but was able to come back and tie xaelar to keep his 4 0th count and stay in the rankings. This also means that Trib4l has been taken off the level 0th rankings and now the once titan of the boards only remains with a single non-tied 0th and top-20s. So a big congrats to him and lets hope he decides to make some moves up the rankings.

Stonedeagle was our last 0th taker this week, taking and netting one 0th on 07-1. He was able to out pace xaelar and get to the exit three frames faster. He now has two 0ths and lets hope that he gets the highscoring fever and the only cure is more 0ths.

As for eru, I have a request: Since I am slowly but surely pursuing my quest of gaining all 100 episode scores, I'd like a chart which indicates which episodes I have submitted are furthest from the episode 0th... I'm sure a few of my submissions have since been improved but not submitted, but at any rate I don't have an up-to-date sol file so this would be helpful - especially for level scores! cheers!

Actually, I haven't implemented such a function (TRO requested, I'll see what I do). But with the current NHigh (I'll give a BETA soon), you can see the list of your ep top 20 scores (you've got 78) with the rank, and the list of Largest Spread Episode. With all this, you are able to get a clear idea of what ep you need to improve.

Eru: I meant, say I submitted episode 83 the first time I completed it with a score of 60.925. I may have improved that and any of the included levels since then, but had to no reason to submit the level since I have no highscores in that particular episode. Since I don't have a current sol, those PBs are likely lost forever until I beat them.

PS: I would expect that the effects of this are negligible if anything, since when I finish my attempt at getting a top 20 in every episode, these old PBs would be obliterated anyway...
