Like the Chain Reaction Speedrunning Contest, but with highscores
OK. here are the rules:
We start with map 111, pendulum by dybbuk
Each map has a 4 day deadline, starting from the time the first score is submitted.
Eg. I am the first one to submit a run, and I did it on 2 Jan at 3:45 PM. Runs must be in, in that case, by 6 Jan @ 3:45 PM
The next map will be the time of the best score*100
Eg. I get a 654.325 on a map and win the round. The next map will be 65432 (always round down)
Should this map be unavailable/unbeatable, we will add a 0 after the first digit of the map number. (65432 becomes 605432)
Should this new map be unavailable, a 0 will be added after the 2nd digit, and on and on until we find an available map
Last place gets no points. 2nd to last gets 1 pt, 3rd to last 2, then 3, 5, 8, 12, 18, 27... (I will decide on a further scoring system should more people compete)
First to 100 points wins.
Feel free to join/drop out as much as you want, and at any time in the competition
Should only one person (other than me) enter in any round, it will not be counted and we will proceed to a new map.
POSTING RUNS
NReality will be used. To post the runs, submit them to NReality (even though they may not be top-20) and give me the link
For the link: Go to this page: http://n.infunity.com/numa_score.php?name=yourusername
and click on your run (the time) Now post this LINK (not demo data) onto forums
This only has to be done once, but you must notify me if you beat your personal best, so I can update the scoreboard.
I need someone to design sig bars for the winner/participants.
current level
148090
Overall Scoreboard:
1. etz - 8
=. xaelar - 8
3. 999_Springs - 4
4. bhz - 2

You really improved the rules by far. Good work.
Map 1 is the first?
Take a random map, where there are no highscores yet. Otherwise you'll have a hard time finding the participants.

[strike]I haven't really tried, but I guess the only reason that no body has submitted highscores to 111 is because it can't be beaten?[/strike]

Yeah, I even improved my run by 15 seconds...
142.175, a more than average run, over 3193 frames.
The first 2/3 were pretty messy, but the last seconds, starting with the drone dodge at frame 28xx, were nearly godlike ;D
I love this level and it still can be improved by much more, several seconds.

Hmmm... I'll join. This will be my first contest...
I won't be doing too much over the next few days, because I have been very busy recently (when was the last time anyone had 9 homeworks going on at once!?) but that will soon clear up.
This level is particularly annoying. Anything can go wrong in 5000 frames. It takes ages to actually complete the level for the first time.

I don't really see a difference. Though my original deadline was too short, that was about it.
http://greenbrown.bandcamp.comPeople write to me and say, "I’m giving up, you’re not talking to me." I just write them a simple message like, "Never give up," you know? And it changes their life

Sorry ganteka, but it seemed to me, that you don't put that much effort in. It's hard to describe. Everything seemed to be more organised here.ganteka wrote:Ow.Etz wrote:I'm in.

But now your contest is at least as organised as this one.

I doubt that will work. If you continue doing this, then for reasons of strategy, I will neither post my demo nor submit my score until sufficiently many people do so and I beat their times. But if others adopt my strategy, then the competition will ground to a halt.bhz wrote:Last place gets no points. 2nd to last gets 1 pt, 3rd to last 2, then 3, 5, 8, 12, 18, 27... (I will decide on a further scoring system should more people compete)
(...even though I've completed the level with a score very close to xaelar's.)

In my opinion. that is a natural strategy that can be used in all highscoring/speedrunning competitions.999_Springs wrote:I doubt that will work.
