Okay, so I know that your first thoughts upon reading that title are something along the lines of, "Who has time to play silly games when mapping is a serious subject!" /sarcasm. Well, let me explain...

The idea is that i would subtly place clues all around the NUMA website, mainly on maps but they might also be placed in willing people's profiles. The starting clue would be given on this thread on a certain date (probably in the summer sometime) and then all competitors would race to find each clue and get to the last one as fast as possible. I don't plan on this taking a few hours, I want it to be drawn out over about a week's time. Therefore, I either need a crapload of clues, very well-hidden clues, or i might just release, say, 10 clues a day. Whichever person can find each clue and finish the scavenger hunt in the quickest time will obviously be the winner. But if that was it, it would be plain boring. So I'm also going to hand out deds to the top 5 quickest people, and I would like to enlist an imager to make top-of-the-line sigbars for the first, second, and third place contestants. If anyone else has suggestions for prizes, fell free to offer.

I also would request that a few people step up to help me in decision making areas on clues and also to give me permission to, say, place a clue in their map, in a comment on their map, in their profile, etc. These people obviously couldn't participate in the hunt because then they'd know where to look, and that's not fair :P.

In summary, I'm looking for feedback on this idea, and for imagers and volunteers to help me out. I'm looking to get this thing going in the summer sometime, so as much work as possible needs to be done ASAP. If you'd like to join as a contestant, post on the thread so I can add you to the list. An infinite amount of people can join, but that just adds more competition =D.

Oh, and to make sure that the winners didn't just chance upon one of the clues, I will require a numbered list that provides all the clues they found in order from first to last. Without the list, there's no way i can know for sure that the person didn't just cheat through it. But no one here would do that...right?

i'd love to help with clues. i already have a few ideas, when should i share them? via pm? am i inslisted in your clue team by volunteering or is there a test to pass?

Haha, no, no test needed to pass. I just need intuitive and creative people who think they'd be good at hiding or thinking up clues. Keep in mind tho, once you tell me a clue, you're not allowed to participate in the hunt...at least not for record. So yea PM me your ideas and i'll add you to the helpers list =] I think i'll allow up to 5 helpers, since we still want people to actually play the scavenger hunt :P

this sounds like a good idea. i just think it unlikely that people will be able to find all clues everywhere. we'll see though. i'll join as a contestant :)

And @Life, i was thinking maybe even after June? Is that too late for anyone? I'm going on vacation for a bunch of the summer, but i suppose if this all works out i could just hand over the final clues to the helpers while i'm away.

When you say find, you mean like more than one clue? Yes. Me and my team will set up clues all around NUMA (and maybe the forums, we're deciding on that one) and then, on a predetermined date, i will post the first clue on this thread. From there it would be up to you guys to find all the other clues and finally come across the last one, at which point you win =] Keep in mind you have to record every clue so i know you didnt skip any.

That's why you need the numbered list of clues, so you have to find them all instead of just stumbling around.
