RETROMORPHOSIS [MODERATOR PLEASE CLOSE]

I noticed a severe shortage of contests at the moment, so taking matters into my own hands, i give to you RETROMORPHOSIS .

Each week, i will announce a map, which will be one of the original 500 N-game maps. You will have to change it, giving it your own unique touch. and here's the catch:

YOU WILL HAVE TO MAKE TWO MAPS.

One keeping the original tileset and using completely different objects.
One using all the original objects and building a new tileset around them.

Both maps will be judged by (hopefully) 3 judges (one of them being me), and the contestant with the highest combined score wins, while the lowest combined score gets you eliminated.

There will be 5 rounds to this contest. You will have a week to submit your maps for each round. Number of eliminations each round depends on the number of entrants.

There will be NO n-reality maps and NO DDAs allowed in this contest. Each map must use exactly one ninja and at least one exit. You are obviously not allowed to cover up objects with tiles. I don't think i have to go into detail on that one, you all know the drill from previous retiling contests.

IMPORTANT: Each map will come with a series of modification options, which you may or may not use. This is to ensure a certain level of diversity between the entries. There will be object and/or tile modification options. Obviously, object modifications refer to your RETILE MAP, while tile modifications refer to your REOBJECT MAP.

Example for an object modification: "You may add up to 15 mines", "You may change the laser drone to a chaingun drone".
Example for a tile modification: "You may change (which includes removing) up to 6 tiles".

Judging criterias are as follows:

Map A (old tileset, new objects)

Gameplay */25
Aesthetics */15
Originality */10

Map B (old objects, new tileset)

Aesthetics */25
Gameplay */15
Originality */10 ,

making for a total of 100 points per judge.

I won't force you to submit your maps to numa, but if you do, use the tags "RM1", "RM2" etc., according to each round of the contest. You have to post the map in this thread for it to be an official entry to this competition.

Will each contestant get the same map or will they get different ones? I'd think the latter would bet better because there would be more variety.

You will probably need this:
http://metanet.2.forumer.com/index.php?showtopic=4072

The attached file in the first post contains leveldata for every map in N. Hopefully that'll make things easier for your contest.

Sometimes, when i read thread like this, or just generally any mappers talk, i feel like you're all in prehistoric age. No offence, but did you ever hear of NReality? You can download it here http://n.infunity.com/ . I'm not going to write all it's advantages, just one: when you play through it, and you die playing a level (you have to die in normal way, not hitting kill button), you can hit Shift+R instead of just R for replay, which will open a web browser with the level data AND the death demo (doesn't work in opera for me, though). You're welcome.
