In this contest I will create the beginning of a map, and you will finish it. If anyone would like to be a judge, please sign up now. There are 4 spaces for judges. There are also 15 spaces for contestants. Whoever wins the contest round will get their choice of three prizes:

1. A tileset created with their name
2. A map in dedication to them
3. A map using their distinctive style

If you have an idea for a prize, please PM me and, if it's any good, I'll add it.

What you are trying to accomplish when you are creating the rest of the level is to make it play well, look nice, and be fun.

Rules:

1. Do not copy the level that someone else has submitted
2. Do not post more than one map per round
3. Do not remove any items pre-created in the map. You are able to add tiles and objects, just so long as it doesn't change any one tile or object already on the map.
4. Do not post a map for a certain round after the deadline has passed.
5. You may either submit the map onto Numa, or as a text document or in a post in this topic. If you submit ti onto Numa, please attach a link to the map. Submitting it to Numa would be safer.
6. Do not steal a map from a text document or a post from another member, and submit it to Numa. This would be followed by a severe punishment.
7. If you are a judge, you may not be a contestant, and if you are a contestant, you may not be a judge.

If I have missed any rules or you think I should add rules, please inform me one way or another. And if you would like to be a judge, please PM me, and I will reply back with some judging rules.

The deadlines for the maps will be on the Saturday of the week when the map was given. Then allow a day or two for judging. Depending on when and how many people sign up, the deadline for this week may be changed.

Once three or more people sign up as contestants, and I have at least one judge, then I will give the beginning of the first map.

EDIT: I am also adding two spots for map-creator. These people will be helping me in creating the beginnings of the levels. They have special rules like the judges do, so if you would like to be a map-creator, please inform me. Also, these two spots are not required. The only required spots are [at least] 1 judge and a few contestants.

I now have the beginning of the first map completed, playtested, edited, playtested, edited, playtested, etc.

So now the only thing that we need are some contestants. Man, no one's even looked at this contest. Come on, people! It's gonna be fun. Join.

Now that we have three contestants and one other judge, we shall begin. Any people who would still like to join still may do so and participate in Round 1. If you want to join, but do not want to participate in Round 1, please inform me.

Here is the beginning map data:



And remember - you cannot remove or change any objects or tiles pre-made onto the level. If you do so, you will be disqualified. You are allowed to add objects and tiles onto the pre-made parts. You may submit up to two levels on any one round.

The deadline for this round is 11:59 AM (almost noon) on 11/8/08 (or 8/11/08 if you are in England), otherwise known as Sunday. You have 41/2 days to create your level. Get started.

EDIT: It's the 8th, not the 5th. I'm terribly sorry for any inconvenience.

also i think you should run this like the paradigm shift thing, winner of the day starts a map and then judges that way itl keep it moving and stuff

And.....what? Oh and also, the judges don't eliminate people from the whole competition, but just only from that one round. Unless that's what you meant. Even so, someone might have thought it differently.
