I know the TNCC died a while ago, but I want to help get it finished.

We need some people to judge the maps for weeks 2 to 5, which never got done. Anyone who helps out will get something special from me. If anyone has some spare time, just doing a week of maps would really be appreciated.

Two people are needed to judge each week, and one person will need to judge my maps since I couldn't judge them. The number of maps in each week are:

Week 2 - 38 maps
Week 3 - 26 maps
Week 4 - 26 maps
Week 5 - 24 maps

Once again, if anyone can help out, it would be awesome. :)

EDIT: Criteria (thanks riobe)

/10 - Concept
/10 - Episodics
/10 - Gameplay
/10 - Aesthetics
/10 - Highscorability
TOTAL : /50

If you are interested, post here and i will contact you.

I might be up for doing a week, but the big question is: what rubric would a judge have to follow?

The judging criteria are as follows (taken from atob's post in the thread).

10/50 - Concept - How original are you. Extra point for finding never before seen uses of the NReality.
10/50 - Gameplay - Enemy placement, difficulty, fun and amount of lag.
10/50 - Aesthetics - How it looks
10/50 - Highscore-ablity - Does it provide ample amounts of innovation, routes, and challenge.
10/50 - Episodic - How well cold the map fit in an episode or column. Does the gold represent a good investment, has the user considered the length of an episode in general.

Go for it Avarin!

i would love to be a judge, but i dont know how. where do i sign up? where's the instruction manual? do i have to be able to make an nreality map?

if all i have to do is rate nreality maps as best i can, then sure, im in. just keep me updated so i dont screw the whole thing up on accident :P

EDIT: oh, wait, thats a commitment. i'll get back to you, i still want to, but i dont know if i'll have time.

and so it goes, and so it goes, and so will you soon i suppose.

Well, the choice of criteria makes or breaks it, and this set is okay. I assume it was stated in the competition thread that episodic-ness was going to be judged on.

I do have two questions though. Riobe described the concept score as being really more of an originality score. Sure, originality is part of the goodness of a concept, but it's not the only part.

Also, I will have difficulty identifying "never before seen uses" of things as I haven't looked into the newest snazzy things NReality put in, like alarm drones and forcefield drones, moving objects, set paths, etc. (I tried loading up the default # that NReality shows in the userlevels section and I went "wtf is going on?") But even so, I haven't been keeping up with NReality maps in general, so I won't know if some particular playermod thing is new or not.

So I don't know if that disqualifies me from being a judge or not. Is there a particular week where older mods (that have been around for awhile) were the topic?

I would describe the 'concept' as the main idea behind the map. It's not a matter of originality, it's the intent of the idea. For example, there are many maps which used an average idea, but were fun to play, and therefore got a high score. Conversly, there are maps which were absolutely terrible, but the main idea behind them was really innovative. There is no originality score, so you don't need to worry about how much experience you've had with nreality maps.

All the maps are ready to be judged, just tell me how many you feel like doing.

Now I'mthe same as eganic. I'm interested and I do have the time. NReality is one of the very few things I'm good at on N. Rating nreality maps... even better. =)

Well Condog pretty much convinced me. I mean, you and I might give maps better points on concept than other people might, simply because we have seen some popular concepts and not others. But I suppose that's an acceptable bias considering the situation. I think they just want the judging to get done, and are not too concerned about such a relatively small bias.

It's not even really that much of a bias. If a map is really that good, it won't matter if the idea is new or not.

There are 4 weeks worth of maps that each need two more judges, plus my maps from every week will need another judges, so depending on how many maps each person has the time to judge, at least three people are needed. I'll PM people and see how many maps they want to judge. But regardless of how many people judge, if someone judges a week, they do the entire week. Weeks cannot be split between people.

I'll PM my first choices to see how many they want to do. If they are not going to judge all the avaliable maps, I'll notify some other people.

One more question, how many judges are needed? Just curious.

Two judges for each of the four weeks, plus another to judge my maps for those four weeks.
