I find there was few activity this time on numa so sometimes ago I think about a nice contest mixing mapping and highscoring in teams. Let me explain you.

Firstly you will have to make Teams of 4 players.
If there's 4 teams the contest will start.

The teams will have 10 days for make a map and post it on numa, it can be a collab between the different members or just a map made by one of the member of the team. You have the right to make any kind of map you want: boring, classic, very hard, easy, race, puzzle, action... But it have to be possible. It can be posted on numa by anyone of the team.
So after the first week each team will have a map posted on numa, they have to tag it NTA and/or send the number ID of the map here on this tread.

The maps will be judged like that:
- Gameplay x/10: The fact that the map is fun to highscore and to speedrun.
- Aesthetic x/10: How the map is looking.
- Mechanism/Originality x/10: Has the map something particular that makes it unique and particularly fun for the contest.

The teams will win a certain amount of points which is the score their map have on 30.

After the preparation week the Highscoring/Speedruning contest begin during 1 other week.
The aim is to make incredible AGD and Speedrun on the maps made by the others teams and on your own map.

The teams will win:
. 10 points for each members being 0th in highscores/speedrun mode on one of the the maps in Nreality.
. 6 points for each members being 1st in highscores/speedrun mode on one of the the maps in Nreality.
. 4 points for each members being 2nd in highscores/speedrun mode on one of the the maps in Nreality.
. 2 points for each members being 3rd in highscores/speedrun mode on one of the the maps in Nreality.
. 1 points for each members being 4th in highscores/speedrun mode on one of the the maps in Nreality.

The teams will lose:
. -3 points for each members who hadn't posted a completition on one of the map in Nreality.

So it means that each players have to get at least a simple completition on each maps if he don't want his team to lose points.

It think we will start with one round (a cycle of mapping and highscoring/speedruning of 2 weeks) and if people like this contest we will do more.
The price is a nice signature made by myself for the 3 members of the winning team.

Also it could be excellent if we can "hide" the demo on Nreality (like in the Blur contest) because I think this will motivate people to make complex and thoughts maps. But I have no idea how to do that...

I will be the organizer (counting the points of the teams , validating the maps...). But we need judges for rating the maps made by the teams. As you guess judges can't participate... I think 2-3 judges will be enough. Leave me a message if you want to be one.

You can register until now, just tell me the 3 names of your team. And if a team miss a player I will go with them.

Thanks for having reading the whole thing, I hope you will find this idea as fun as I find it and don't hesitate to ask something if it is not clear. Or tell me what do you think over the rules of this contest, I can change them for you guys.

I like the idea, however to make it even more unique, I think some sort of mapping judgement has to be involved. I mean, getting points for good maps. That way, when xaelar makes team with some other 2 sucky-mapping-highscorers, they won't auto-win, because even if they will be top3 on all maps, their map will be really bad (well xaelar doesn't have really bad maps, but they are beaten by the true mappers maps) and thus could be somehow beaten. Just an idea.

However I would like to participate, if I find 2 people willing to be with me :/

I agree with what you say vankusss. But it will be more difficult to organize. Anyways I'm ok for putting a map judging system. this could be really fun but we need to find judges who can't participate...
And also integrate speedrun on the same points system than Agd.

Firstly, your English has improved quite a bit... Secondly it's "highscores" mode, not "AGD". Thirdly, this sounds interesting but the premise seems too vague for me to 'sign the dotted line' at this time...

Yeah, I really try to do my best in English but I'm Belgian and I've only few hours of English at school. I know sometimes I must sounds not really understandable and I'm sorry for that.

I edited the first post and change/add few things.

I appreciate you learning English, it can get you a long way in life, no matter where you live. I for one am casually learning Spanish and am probably spending a lot less time learning it than you are learning English and I know how difficult and confusing it can be (especially with grammar and pronunciation), so well done, mate! ;)

I don't know, if this is still running, but once more you came up with a very interesting and innovative idea, TBL!
Combining mapmaking and highscoring skills shows the true abilities of n-players. Plus in a team others can compensate your own weaknesses.

I'd be in and for me it would be alright to be in a team with vankuss, if he agrees.

Yet again I think the main problem of contests you initiate is, that they seem to be dying away quickly. So, the first thing for you to do, if you actually want to restart/continue that contest is to revive it. Remember those people who agreed to participate and gain more participants by submitting another advertising map, just like we did for TWC, remember?

I'm still ok for this contest and really happy you think it's a cool idea.
But yeah, we need advertising.
I've already post a map on Numa but it didn't get noticed... there's less and less players here and it will be really hard to find enough people but anyways 9 is enough so it's still possible.
I'll try to contact some cool guys on Numa and see what their thinking of this ;)

I think yes, it is good to be random. Because some of authors, that joined recently might get into one team with the 'elders' of mapping, so it'll help them gain experience :D and also it slightly removes the possibility of forming teams of people, who would definetly win.

oh nreality. can someone post a link with a guide how to use nreality?:D like posting demos, etc. and, yeah, never used before.

deep_blue: it's simple, but not very intuitive.
To load and play a NUMA map, go to userlevels, put map ID in the small box on top, then click "load numa map" - this will load the map itself, its thumbnail and current NReality rankings.
To submit your personal best, click it while holding CTRL.
