I haven't used any cheats and I'm not in practice mode, but I only recently received a pink ninja and I've completed 5 columns. Any suggestions that won't make me lose my progress?

Have you checked your .sol file?
Or maybe you haven't actually completed them, and instead just unlocked the last episode of each column and absent-mindedly thought you did complete it.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a simple explanation like that...though it sure feels like I slogged through the entire episodes. (I'll go check just to be sure). They look familiar.

If it's an easy answer, what would I be looking for in the .sol file? (and where is this file?)

The .sol file has got nothing to do with it. To check for a completed column, go to the high scores menu and click each episode of the column. If you have an episode score for each of them (at the top), you should have the flavour.

Problem confirmed. Thanks for the tip! I'm not at all embarrassed. I finished a third of the game before I realized that the gold accumulated throughout an entire episode.....so this is just par for the course....
