User Levels got... messed up...

Postby 077ACMOzz-festParty » 2009.02.08 (03:00)

Hey everyone, I have a problem that happened to me today. Now then, my problem is that I changed the userlevel document in my Downloads as said to put my level on the user levels' list, but when I checked levels, all that's there is a level named "o" with no author or comment, and when I click on it, there's nothing but a few floating circles and no Ninja, but he appears when I reset. Is this the "problem" that the document said would happen if I did something, 'cause I don't recall doing anything wrong. If answered, thanks for your help :).

Make sure that the file...
  • is named "userlevels".
  • is in the same folder as N.
  • contains the line "&userdata=" before the level data.
The third is the part that most people miss.

I hadn't put in the @userdata part, so now I know why it messed up. Thanks!

Hey, where do I put that now? In front of the numbers and few letters of in front of the whole thing? It's not working either way. Also, if this is important to why it keeps saying something, the folder n_v1pc is zipped up, does that mean I can't make changes to it or what?

Also, new problem, I now see what I did wrong in the first p-lace. I was being a retard and moved the document of userlevels from my documents and replaced the original! I'm an idiot! >.< Is there ANYWAY to reverse this and get them back? Or do I have to re-download the save file (which wouldn't be too bad, but I don't want to do the in-game levels again >.<)?

To keep things simple, I'd re-download the N zip folder from The Way of the Ninja and unzip it. Replace your old N folder with the new, unzipped one, making sure of course to hold on to any levels you've made and such when you get rid of the old folder. Then you can start adding your maps to a freshly downloaded, functioning userlevels file. You'll keep all your data concerning the episodes you've completed because that information is saved elsewhere, and you shouldn't have any more problems.

Also, the "&userdata=" goes at the beginning of the text file, above all of your map data. That line is what tells the game to begin parsing the data for the levels, so any (properly-formatted) data that follows it will show up on the Userlevels list in-game.
