How can I play with a controller?

I love N but cannot stand using a keyboard, how can I play using my wireless Call of Duty Black Ops controller? There's nothing wrong with the controller I've used it to play many other games on my computer.

The newer versions expire after some time and require you to pay. It is really good software, but if you want to avoid this, find and use v5.3 of xpadder. Alternatively, JoyToKey does the same job for free.
