Day and Age is a new album by the Killers that's set for November 22, 2008. I, being a humongous Killers fan, am really pumped for it. You can get two of the songs, Human and Spaceman right now as singles. So far, I'm not disappointed. Looks like they're more on the indie-ish beats.
I'm not really sure of any other fans around here of them (judging my experiences on the IRC) but this one looks worthy of a check out.

My once nearly-dead love for The Killers is now back and burning.
Day & Age is already going to be a hit.

I heard their B-side for Human. It's called A Crippling Blow and it's not that bad either.TribulatioN wrote:My once nearly-dead love for The Killers is now back and burning.

They've made some alright pop songs, but when I first heard Human, I thought it was abysmal. It doesn't have a great tune and it's devoid of any personality whatsoever. It's just incredibly boring.
I haven't heard Spaceman, though, but my expectations aren't particularly high.

Bleh, Human was pretty gay. The lyrics were dumb and they're starting to sound like Coldplay.
It's just like what happened with Weezer's songs, they used to be okay, but then they started to suck severely when they released Beverly Hills and every song I've heard on the radio from them sucked worse and worse. Bottom line, Pork & Beans SUCKED even though it topped the charts.
BOMB THE CHARTS! All the songs made popular by the charts or by ratings *almost* always suck.

The term you used to describe Human is wrong. Oh so wrong. And I fail to see how it sounds like Coldplay.Al Capwnage wrote:Bleh, Human was pretty gay. The lyrics were dumb and they're starting to sound like Coldplay.

I must say, I completely agree with that. The only thing Coldplay and The Killers have in common is great musicality.Techno wrote:The term you used to describe Human is wrong. Oh so wrong. Now that I've listened to the whole album 8 times through, I have an idea how it goes.
By far, Human is my least favorite track on the album. The vocals and music is just so bad on Human now that I look at it and the other stuff on the album far surpass it.
If you liked Human, you'll love the album. I was actually pretty impressed how good the vocals were on some of the songs, such as "A Dustland Fairytale" and "This is Your Life".
This is a must get album. Then again, you're hearing a pro-band bias. They're one of the few bands that don't get worse with each album.
Personal Faves on the album:
(The two stated above)
I Can't Stay
Losing Touch

Okay, okay, so I borrowed the hard copy of Day & Age from a friend.
It's absolutely fantastic. Techno, your favourites match mine.

I Can't Stay is stuck in my head. As well as the hypnotising beat of This is Your Life.Techno wrote:Awesome sauce. Anyone else got a chance to listen to it?TribulatioN wrote:Okay, okay, so I borrowed the hard copy of Day & Age from a friend.

It's a shame most of my friends don't really like The Killers. It's like bias to the max.

First of all, Weezer continues to rawk the rock of rock. How can you judge a band based on their radio hits?
Second of all, I've listened through this album illegally, and I bought it minutes later of amazon. Too. Friggin'. Awesome.
Sawdust left me with a weird taste in my mouth.
Amazing album.

Weezer's Pinkerton set the bar far too high, it was a real shame for them :(
I liked 'Hot Fuss' a lot at the time, but everything since has felt lacking that immediate shine that made them seem so essential. I won't write them off before giving the new album a proper go, what I've heard so far I haven't hated.

I don't really consider Sawdust an album. It's like D-sides for Gorillaz.
