Which MP3 Player should I get?

I'm going to get one for Christmas. What I have in mind so far is an 8/16 gigabyte iPod Touch. I've heard about the iRiver NV, but I don't know much about it apart the name itself. I've got a 300-400 dollar price range, and I don't know if there are any better alternatives. The storage size isn't crucial, but a large screen size (2.5 inch +) would be preferable. Any recommendations?

Given your price range, preferred screen size and that you don't care too much about capacity, the iPod Touch would probably be your best bet. They're pretty cool.

Go for the 16 GB Touch. They're quite usefull, and you don't have to squint at a small screen to watch videos.

Get a Zune. I hear they're all the rage with the presidential crowd.

Get a touch. They're really cool and you can put literally hundreds of apps on them, a lot of which are free.
they're thoroughly entertaining especially if you have an itunes on a computer (which im assuming you do) and you can easily put movies on them.

I'd go with a Touch, especially with AppStore, you really have endless possibilities.
Shame you can't jailbreak the Second Generation Touches. Otherwise the iPod Touch's potential to be the right choice for you would sky-rocket. But it is already mile high.

From my experience with other people's Touches, they're very good. I can't believe you can get one for 300 or 400, but I'd go for it if you can. And yeah, 16GB would be best.

Most retailers price the 8GB at around $320; the 16GB model is around $420.

Get yourself an iPhone or something - I just got a Blackberry myself, and it's ended up being the most fantastic contraption I've ever owned - it's like a mini friggin' laptop.

I'm thinking the price listed on their website is in US dollars, for US consumers. All the catalogues I've been through have the aforementioned price tags.
And Blizz, as much as I'd like an iPhone, it's too expensive an option. And I don't use mobile phones much anyway.

Ahh, wasn't paying attention, my bad.

Wow. I felt sure they were $600 or so, AU. Perhaps I'm thinking of a possible 32G model... hmm.
Anyway, I'd go for the touch.
And iPhone's are horribly expensive - about $850 AU or something for 16GB - without a plan. And even with a plan it's still expensive, it just takes longer. Not saying they're not awesome, they're just expensive.

Hi, guys. I've decided to buy a Touch. (I'm actually typing on it right now.) It's a pretty funky tool - I'm glad I bought this. Thanks for the help guys.
All I need now is an IRC client for iPod.

There are a few IRC clients for Touch, actually.
http://www.apple.com/webapps/socialnetw ... lient.html is one... and I've seen at least one more, but I'm not sure about cost.
Also, Skype:

And somewhere there's another IM application that handles MSN, YIM, Gtalk, AIM, and some more stuff. It's free, or at least it was when I saw it. Enjoy!

I would say that's awesome!!!!, but searching 'Mibbit' in the AppStore yields no results. :/
Edit: Oh. You can just use Mibbit through Safari...
