Discuss music released in 09 so far.

right now my favs of the year is a toss up between John Frusciante - The Empyrean and Dinosaur Jr. - Farm. Animal Collective's new album, And So I Watch You From Afar - s/t and WITTR's new album are all up there too.

I still need to listen to a bunch of stuff, and right now i'm listening to Suffocation-Blood Oath. Definitely their best release since Pierced From Within.

Can't wait for the new Converge, Circle Takes The Square, and Deltron 3030. There's others but they're all escaping me.

Won't you give it a try?
So we like the way we dance baby
When notes come to you
I know i love you
You're all i see

My smile is a rifle
And what are you?
My smile is a rifle
I'm pointing it at you
My smile is a rifle
You'll know when you bring me in from the rain

The Empyrean really is amazing. Some of Frusciante's best, IMO. Animal Collective's MPP was awesome, too.

And I'm really diggin' Incubus's Monuments and Melodies lately. Great stuff.

I know a local band called the Thought Thieves...they're pretty sweet. Because I know some of them personally haha. But yeah, check them out on myspace or something, they're not well-known yet. *done advertising*

Otherwise, I don't really know who all is new in 2009. I'll go with some of those American Idol people, Kris Allen especially. Adam Lambert's cool too.

i havent decided if Farm is better or worse than Beyond yet. Right now ive just decided they're equal so i dont feel bad.

also earlier today i just listened to the new Kylesa. Great Sludge Metal/Hardcore record. would recommend.

There's a new Circulatory System album coming out that I'm looking forward to. The new Grizzly Bear album was alright. Merriweather Post Pavilion was pretty nice but not as good as Strawberry Jam. I still need to check out the new Sonic Youth album and the new Dinosaur Jr. album. Sunn O)))'s new work, Monoliths & Dimensions, is wonderful!

Just bought Octahedron. Pretty good, but has lost most of the Prog.
Not sure when Monuments and Melodies hits this side of the pond, if it hasn't done already, but I'll be sure to pick that up for the second CD alone.

The Dangermouse and Sparklehorse collab, Dark Night of the Soul is excellent. Has a great guest list on vocals as well, and I think a lot of the featured artists were involved in song writing.

The Animal Collective album disappointed me somewhat, I'm not sure what it is about it that never grabbed me, but I throw it on every now and then in the hope that it clicks.

My favourite song of 2009 is probably Rapping4Money by Clouddead, but the mixtape it's off is horribly inconsistent.

I've really enjoyed Part the Second by maudlin of the Well, Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear, Monoliths & Dimensions by Sunn O))) and An Imaginary Country by Tim Hecker so far this year. There are a few things that I'm looking forward to and many things that I have yet to get so far.
