A topic to give people the opportunity to know what your music style is. Here you can post your favourite songs/bands and comment/rate others so we can all get a taste of eachothers music preferations.
I'll start:
My favourite song at the moment is 'Right here, Right now' from Fatboy Slim.
I know, I'm quite in an electronic mood the last few weeks.
Other styles that I really appreciate:
-Rock from the 70's - 90's
-Frank Zappa music
-etc..

I like indie and alt rock. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Coldplay because one of my roommates is a huge fan. I really like The Decemberists a lot, and I also enjoy bands such as Death Cab for Cutie, Belle & Sebastian, Bloc Party, Interpol, Of Montreal, Sigur Ros, etc.

Bloc party is great, but I didn't like their last two albums. The first one was epic, specially 'The Prayer' (I hope it was on the first one..^^)

I mostly listen to rock, electronic, and jazz. Mostly rock and electronic, really, but I also like jazz a lot. Favourite bands include Muse, Radiohead, Blur, Pavement... you can czech my Last.fm. Recently I have been listening to a lot of New Order and Mew.
crescor: nope, that was on their second. I feel like I should like Bloc Party considering what music I'm into but they're not quite my style. I like some of it.

I don't really have a genre. I tend to listen to less rock and electric music, but I'll listen to just about anything else.
Recently I've been digging out recordings of Classical Gas by Mason Williams, and Zanzaibar by Billy Joel.
Also, I got some cool songs today because we listened to some nice songs in Music. I can't name any of them, though one of the cool albums we heard was "Elixir".

I suppose there's a real common thread running through my favourite styles of music, but I hate defining things in terms of genres, they don't say enough about individual sounds. I've really been into bands such as The Knife, Yeasayer and MGMT lately. Especially The Knife. Also some jerky alternative stuff like Youthmovies and early Foals.
We played with a band last night called Data Select Party, they're really great fun and one of the few bands that make me sing along.
All time favourite stuff includes: Mew, Bloc Party, At The Drive-In, Modest Mouse, The Smiths, Cursive... I could probably do this for far too long.
Some songs I'd recommend atm:
The Knife - We Share Our Mother's Health
Mew - 156
Yeasayer- 2080
Youthmovies - The Naughtiest Girl Is A Monitor
Data Select Party- No Girls Allowed

The knife is awesome. I've named a map after them, I think.
And I read the interview with your band where you said, just like here, that you hate defining things in terms of genres. I like the song 'I, simian' btw.

Progressive rock music is my favourite 'genre'. Symphonic prog, if you wish to go deeper. Favourite bands include Yes, Neal Morse, Spock's Beard, Transatlantic, The Flower Kings, Dream Theater, The Tangent, Beardfish, Jethro Tull,
I enjoy black metal and progressive death metal most out of the metal genres, such as Enslaved, Emperor, Wolves in the Throne Room, Ulver (who can't really be called metal, but they're one of my favourites so I'll lump them in here), Opeth, Textures, Meshuggah, Between the Buried and Me, maudlin of the Well.
Other bands I very much enjoy include Minus the Bear, Coheed and Cambria, Porcupine Tree, Planet X, Slint, Tool.
I enjoy jazz, and avant-garde relations, but not so much the noisy ones, such as most of John Zorn's work. But when he gets melodic, I certainly do enjoy it. Branford Marsalis and Miles Davis do it for me.
There's certainly much more I listen to but wouldn't be willing to put here for sheer size of the post. I hope this tells enough about my music taste.

What am I liking at the moment?
Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein (Hip Hop)
Dev/Null - Necrobestial Sadobreaks (Breakcore)
Enduser - Calling The Vultures (Hip Hop/D&B)
Jaga Jazzist - What We Must (Jazz/Post-Rock)
Chapterhouse - Pearl (Shoegaze)
East of Eden - Mercator Revisited (Blues/Prog Rock)
I'm feeling the underground hip-hop at the moment actually, the properly dirty stuff at least. ;)

Another song that was recommended to me is For All Seasons by a group called "Yanni".
Hehe. :D
You can check it out here if you want. It's a pretty cool song, though it's quite long. Got some awesome solos though, including a harpist who I could swear is having glissando-seizures.
Anyway, enjoy if you watch.
