^In regards to me rating Yahoozy's The Necks song a .1/10 (as he did incluye's song above his) in the 'Rate the song above you' thread.hairscapades wrote:I realize that you were the OP of this thread but I sort of feel like it should be kept where a poster can express their opinion of the track above them without having someone else come in and second guess it no matter how wrong and stupid they are. It keeps this thread unlike every other thread on this forum.
Then slaps apparently came in and gave me a harsh talking to, but Tanner here came and deleted all his posts while also giving me a subtle harsh talking to. So without continuing to disturb the above thread, my response (and general attitude of laughing at your artistic license while I continue to degrade my reputation with the liberal arts community here at Metanet). And I will defend my "wrong and stupid" comments with more comments you will think are wrong and stupid because apparently you are artists and therefore are allowed to be pretentious.
I've now listened to 3, err, 'songs' of theirs, if they can be called that, therefore I'm allowed to make giant sweeping generalizations about all of their music. And because I'm not sure that was clear enough, the previous sentence was a joke.
The Necks formula:
1) Play a kinda catchy little riff on bass or piano.
2) Have the other of those two instruments come in and play something that sorta complements the previous part, but feels like it could maybe be its own little tune.
3) Have the drum player come in with something either so simple I could play it with one hand while typing this post, or something so ridiculous it sounds like it belongs in noise rock, not any form of jazz.
4) Then every 2 minutes, change one to two notes of each part randomly until the end of the 10+ minute rendition.
I actually enjoyed some of it for a little while. Then they continued playing nearly the exact same thing for several minutes until the point where I had a feeling similar to when you have a small segment of a song stuck in your head for a few hours. If I was actually rating it, I'd give it maybe a 4/10.
