I finally got around to reading the Pitchfork Readers Poll and thought it'd be a really cool idea to do for Metanet as well. I'm willing to do all the work and tally the votes and everything, all you guys have to do is post with your top 3 choices for each list. I know I'm not exactly the most respected member here - I've had my share of dick moves and screw-ups - but I'm volunteering my time to try and get this together.

Lists
(I took out the Pitchfork 90s List and Twitter since I thought they were the least relevant but if you guys want to put down votes, I'll tally them up)

Top (Overall) Albums
Top Metal Albums
Top Hip-Hop Albums
Top Dance/Electronic Albums
Top Left-Field Albums
Most Underrated Albums
Most Overrated Albums
Top Songs
Top Pop Songs
Worst Pop Songs
Best New Artist
Best Reunion/Comeback
Best Live Act
Best Hope for 2011
People write to me and say, "I’m giving up, you’re not talking to me." I just write them a simple message like, "Never give up," you know? And it changes their life

I'd be much more inclined to do this if most of the categories weren't fucking stupid.

If you wanna suggest something else I'm game, I was just going off Pitchfork for a model.

I suggest we just make up categories and award prizes. Fuck polls.

On that note:

Best genre I discovered this year: Bossa nova! Holy shit, this is awesome.

Runner up: Japanese noise rock. See also Melt-Banana.

Top (Overall) Albums - 1. Tallest Man On Earth - 'The Wild Hunt'
2. Despite it being 2009 I really want to include Nosaj Thing - Drift
3. Toro Y Moi - 'Causers of This'

Best New Artist - Jai paul (although it was really late 09, I need Bait Ones to come out already)

Best Live Act - well I didn't see much but Foals were sick. Yannis did the biggest stage dive I've seen.
spoiler

I find that ironic since he wants Weezer to broke up and your album cover is a Weezer one.

I actually meant that semi-sarcastically... I liked Hurley a lot more than I expected to but since I had rock-bottom expectations that's not much of a stretch. It was pretty fun.
