Got foobar2000 to replace my extremely slow, obnoxious iTunes. Besides the included plug-ins, a scrobbler, and foo_dop though, I don't have many components and was wondering which ones you guys would recommend.

foo_discogs is an absolute must to replace the built-in freedb tagger. I also couldn't get by without foo_fileops and foo_converter but I think those are included by default these days.

Seconding everything Tanner said. I also use columns UI which I think is pretty excellent, but I haven't used the standard interface recently to compare, and foo_quicksearch for searching. Beyond that, I guess the question is, is there anything foobar2000 does not do that you want it to?

Well not being able to save/manage iPod playlists is a huge problem for me. I've looked into foo_pod since it has that capability but as far as I've read it's not being updated and won't work well (or at all) with newer versions of Foobar. Also, the fact my iPod displays all the individual artists in compilations tends to make it messy and disorganized, since I have a lot of playlists from blogs or compilation CDs.

Does the iPod not support the album_artist tag? How backward.Amadeus wrote:Also, the fact my iPod displays all the individual artists in compilations tends to make it messy and disorganized, since I have a lot of playlists from blogs or compilation CDs.

Nope, I've tried setting album artist to 'various' for the sake of organization and my classic doesn't pick up on it.Duchess of Awesome wrote:Does the iPod not support the album_artist tag? IIRC, the iPod uses a different tag for album artist than most media players/softwares do. I had to massively swap all of the tags from my collection previously for an iPod to the more standard album artist tags for my Zune.
