The official (ish) COMMET thread.

WARNING: LONG POST AHEAD. YOU CAN SKIP STRAIGHT TO THE COMIC, BUT YOU'LL BE MISSING A LOT OF INFO.
Image
I guess I should reintroduce myself, since it's been a long time since I've posted any webcomics here.

Hi, I'm Ignate. I've made several webcomics both on the old forums and on the new. These are *cough*blatantselfpromotion*cough* N: Drone Awakening, Nox Volcari, and N: Hysteron Proteron. Some of the comics aren't there because of years of not updating the images, but you might want to take a read there, because this new comic is related to them and requires a quick browse through them.

Now, for the more important stuff. Some of the older members may remember of a small little thing, the PEEP incident. While it's no Tetris Takeover, a few members have noticed the word PEEP being circulated around by certain members, including Mosh, Chase, Wannas and smort. Basically, PEEP is a word used for the members of a group called COMMET. Though this discovery now isn't much because of the hype dying after a long time, plus it's not much to begin with, I'll say it anyway.

COMMET is short for COMics METanet. I know the grammar is sort of wrong, but it sounds cool, just go with it. It's basically a group of Metanet members who make N webcomics. Anticlimax? Most likely. The members are called PEEPS (don't ask), and members are invite-only (as great as having a big group is, we prefer to keep it small). Members are smort, Chase, Mosh, Condog, Wannas, and formerly, Britannia (this was due to him quitting because I was way too ambitious. Sorry, Britannia), and myself.

Now, throughout the years, in PM and MSN convos between me and the other peeps, we have planned an entire fictional universe based on N. Many ideas were thrown around and implemented, until what we have is a large timeline filled with characters and plots. Of course, the peeps are free to make their own comics independantly, meaning their comics won't be related to the COMMET timeline if they don't want it to.

It was a recent idea of mine to implement N: Hysteron Proteron into the timeline, as it was first a separate comic. This means that N:DA, Nox and soon, Oracle, are part of one huge timeline, where you, the reader, can put the pieces together and make the connections.

What we have here now is a little comic that's being posted before our big project, Oracle. Because I couldn't finish N:HP and Nox because they were too demanding (bad idea trying to hand-draw the comics, basically), these little comics will explain almost everything about the COMMET timeline.

The little side-project is divided into different parts, each showing the backstory of different comic characters. This shows the things each character knows about and helps you to put the pieces together. The rest will be explained by Oracle, which will be posted when we (smort and I, mostly) finish preparing the writing and graphics.

--------------------

So basically, COMMET is a Metanet comic group. We post comics, you read them. Simple, right?
Now, here we go. The first installment of our backstory comics, Don. It's about Don, a character from N: Drone Awakening. I suggest you take a short browse through the thread (link at beginning of post) to get the idea of the character and the setting. Most of the N:DA comics should be in the first post, but some of the comics probably won't show. Don't worry, this should clear up whatever's missing.

And the second, because the first doesn't really have much to it.

Comic archive is in the post below. Also, despite most of the peeps being inactive in this, they will be given credit in the making of this comic, because I'm such a nice guy.

Summary of Events (requested by Tunco)
After the Great Decline, the drones live on one side of the N world, while ninjas on the other side. Drones invent mines to keep ninjas away after ninjas start coming into drone land for gold.
D-1 creates Dronesis belief, invades and conquers 2 N cities (one city is a drone factory- The Forge, while the other is D-1's capital city). D-1 creats secret line of descendants, leading up to D-807 (Drone Ruler).
D-807 is a Guardian, keepers of a secret that can greatly affect the ninjas, because it says there is no transcendence. In the present, D-807 plans to escape prison.

Floorguards are an intelligent, but hated by the drones and ninjas. They are chased out of their home and have no resources. They use what they have to make an advanced floorguard leader. When one dies, they make a better one.
Current floorguard leader is Omega. He went to negotiate with the drones to help get resources. A group of drones agree to help him. Omega meets the group leader, a zap drone called Olivia, and falls in love with her.
Olivia suggests a drone-floorguard marriage between her and Omega, which can lead to an alliance, and help the floorguards survive. The drone government disagrees with this, and sends Olivia on a suicide mission into ninja territory. Omega gets really bitter and wants to destroy both the drones and the ninjas. He succeeds in taking down a lot of them, but is ultimately defeated. He is rebuilt and takes the survivors to Tempat Mula, and wait.

A robotic device is found by an alliance of two ninja cities. Called "The Artifact", it follows the two leaders, Cynis and Myria, around, listening to their conversations. The ninja alliance is building a device known as Dalemnus.
Lately, an unknown band of machines has attacked several of their smaller cities, but then one of their major mining cities was attacked. Cynis and Myria along with the artifact check out the situation.

Nice!

EDIT: Also, I propose that COMMET be a usergroup on the forums, even though I'm not a part of it.

A retired comic maker returning back. And you take your comics -job- seriously, unlike most of the comic makers, though, I really enjoy reading this, I mean it.

Awesome comics, and I'm glad to see that the plotline of N:DA is back. That was one of my favorite comics on the old forums.

Well, I liked all of your other comics, so I'm bound to enjoy this one.

Also,

Haven't Britannia, Mosh, and smort all pretty much quit the forums?

I may be wrong about smort because of all the name changing...

@Lachesis: COMMET was established a real long time ago, when those members were active in the old forums. We're thinking of recruiting new peeps, but don't get your hopes up. I'm just going to concentrate on the comics for now.

Ok then.

May I possibly have a hint as to who might be recruited?

One of the authors of the Epic Four (just a little title I give to the 4 webcomics I think are most epic).
- A Small Bit of Code
- Wannas' comic (not counted, since he's already a peep, but his comic is counted as one of the Epic Four)
- .sol of N
- Legacy of N

PS: Don't angst, Lachesis. Depending on where your comic's headed, it'll be the Epic Five. :P

Also, why is Condog a part of it? What was his comic? Or is it because of his mad shopping skills?

No comic. He asked if we could collaborate on a comic, and I told him about COMMET, so he joined.

Also, new comic.

I don't know if it makes any difference to your thought process, but I would like to strongly recommend OneSevenNine.

Come on.

These comics are better than any comic I've seen so far in this Webcomics forum, except Dave's. Well, OneSevenNine's is nice.

If you're done being a douchebag with no particular point to your posts, that'd be cool.

Wow. Thank you.

As for the comic, I assumed I couldn't see #2 because I was at school, but I was wrong. When I clicked on the link it said it could not find the server.

The first is really good, and I understand that you need to have some expository for such a long project. Maybe I'll be able to put the two together when I see #2?
