Type: 6th generation iPod classic

I had dropped it, and afterwards it would not turn on regularly. When I reset it, it tells me to either use iTunes to restore it, or give it a power source. When I try to restore it, it comes up with an "unknown error (1439)". I already upgraded to the newest available version of iTunes, as well as trying a different computer, and it did not help. Disk mode does not work - it simply shows the "Do not disconnect." thing in a strange black and white retro Apple font (keep in mind that if I try to do anything without power the iPod shuts off). The diagnostics check mode (center + rewind) works fine, however.

Any help? :(

Not sure how much of a help they may be but thats the only Apple information I found on the error code.

If I had to guess, your hard drive is cracked. If it isn't warranteed, you could go the expensive route, and have them fix it. Or, if you're experienced at minor electronics, rtmfy.

It turns out that the iPod is under warranty, so I'm going to bring it into the Apple store and see if I can get it fixed. Or maybe get a brand new iPod!
