I voted vi, but I need to use a command line editor roughly once every 6 months (oddly enough, that happened to be today o_O )

vi(m). The fact that you can do everything you could ever imagine (yes, even that) inside emacs is kind of cool, but I like lots of little programs integrating into one overall collective mass of awesomeness.

Emacs all the way. That's mostly because I've never learned to use Vi with any proficiency, though. Most of my CLI editing is done in DOS's EDIT, since I primarily work with Windows machines (Yes, I do web apps on Linux servers, but I don't interact with the servers via CLI much, being a fan of fancy GUI administration tools like Webmin).

I thought you were hardcore. ;_;

I AM SHY AND BLUSHING WHEN I TELL YOU, TSUKATU, MY SEXY RUSSIAN FRIEND, THAT I AM AN EMACS MAN.
And everything you say will only convince me to switch, so back off.

So a friend introduced me to a really nifty command called xmodmap, which can remap keys to your heart's content. After switching the escape and caps lock keys, I think my productivity in vim has increased drastically. <3 <3

Yeah, I know what you mean -- I remapped my steering wheel's cruise control switch to the gas pedal's function, and now I don't need to use my feet to drive (if you're wondering how I brake, I remapped the left turn signal; turning left is for pussies).

I'm more practical than hardcore. I know my way around a CLI, but I really don't like CLI text editors. I'm a GUI person at heart.
Hey, I think I'm still pretty hardcore though. How many other people evade school internet filters by VNC-over-SSHing to a home machine? or, when my home machine is down, by using Lynx via SSH on a machine at the Oregon State University Open Source Lab or in Sourceforge's farm?

He's lying. He dual boots Haiku and Plan 9.
On SPARC.
Also, jean-luc, gvim looks significantly prettier than emacs's horrendous gui. I'd rather use gedit than the latter.

I normally use gedit. >.<
