Opening up my pc

I just recently started to open up my old pc and I am having a tough time getting it open. The outer edge on the back has screw like things that i'm pretty confident are indented rivets, the front faceplate looks like it comes off but i couldn't get a grip on it so i grabbed a hammer. But now there is a hammer in the room and I fear for the computers safety, so I was wondering if you guys knew how to open a Compaq Presario sr2000.

I can't be the only one that thinks Slayr is a bot, right?
To open your PC, you must first uninstall Norton.

Isn't it usually the side that comes off? Anyway, I wouldn't have any idea; I'd wait for digitboy to show up.

Well, since HP owns Compaq, its probably the same, right? My HP box has these two somewhat large knobs (they're silver). Just turn them with your hand and the side should just slide off.

I thought exactly the same thing upon reading the OP. Poor grammar, and use of capitalisation, use of tags "Compaq Presario sr2000" official looking image that looks out of place.
You guys are making me feel bad. :(

...are there any screws? I'd work on unscrewing things before I tried out a hammer. Jeez.

yes there are screws, but I don't have access to all of them. You need to remove the rivets before you can unscrew them all. Otherwise I wouldn't have used a hammer. jeez..

If you've taken out all the screws you can, you should be able to open it out. I don't think I've ever need to take out rivet to open a case.

I do. What exactly do you want to do with it? Is there a reason for opening up your computer?

What about the internals of my 1993 Dino-LP instead?

I opened it because I got a laptop and now we have to part with my oldest friend. We've had this computer for about 5-6 years, it lasted through some tough times. My mom told me we have to throw it out but I liked that computer a lot, and I'd always wanted to see the innards of it. The rest of my family hated it and said it was a piece of crap, but I prefer to call it a train. It starts off slow but eventually it gets going and once its there it works perfectly it just took a while to get there and they're all impatient. Especially my dad, his laptop wasn't working so his solution instead of waiting was to punch it which resulted in the motherboard snapping. And now i have the fan, the motherboard, the fan, the CPU, the hardrive and a memory stick in my closet. :) Goodbye Carl......
There were too many photos so I'll just give you a link to the photobucket album.

My advice when opening computers, find a manual and read it.
I opened mine up a few days ago to fix a double grounding problem with my audio jack, spent hours and eventually bent some tabs (now the front is wonky). After putting it back together I realized I forgot something and opened it up again (using instructions) and got it open in a few minutes.
