My dad got one, its a nice phone.

However, if you are tight on cash, I'd just get like a $15 phone over something that has a bunch of features you might not ever use.

What color did you get it in?

The phone looks nice, but it's lacking in fucntionality and the software is pretty atrocious (clunky and slow), like most Motorola products.

That's $400, yet you say you are strapped for cash? O_o

After breaking my old phone and not wanting to spend a lot on a new one, I bought a Sony Erricson k550i. Maybe not the best looking, but it was only £50 on PAYG and I can honestly say it's the best phone I have ever owned. This phone also came second in a review of 50 phones for camera quality on the gadget show. Great phone for the money.

As for that phone, I'm just really not a fan of motorolas. As ATOB has already said, they aren't the easiest to use. I also think they are pretty ugly.

A *much* better phone, imo. Better software and much easier/more fun to use.

I'm a fan of the w880i - really great media support and battery life, but the camera has no flash and the keys are quite fiddly.

I'm a real fan of Ericssons in general, I'd recommend reading up on some of their models before you commit.

I love Ericcson phones as well. They have awesome funtions yet hold a sleek design.

As for yours..... they're on V9?? All I have is the V3. Did they skip some versions or is this just for attraction purposes?

I've owned a T-Mobile G1 (the "Google Phone") for a bit more than a week. It's less expensive than the phone you linked to, and ri-di-hiculously more functional. I can do all of my work as a computer science researcher on my goddamn phone.

Absolutely fucking fantastic. Best worth for any amount of money I've paid for an electronic contraption.

I wouldn't recommend a three year contract, as you never know what changes would occur in the cellphone industry.
I was foolish enough to sign the three year, and now regret it immensely.
Not only did it keep me from changing companies, (I could, but for about 400 dollars, which is absurd imo,) but it also caused a lot of trouble with the phone bills.

But go with your gut on getting your phone, just make sure it has the functions you need etc etc.

"electronic Contraption" really? Next are we going to say "git off ma' lawn ya' youngin whippersnappers"?

Anywhoo... what do you really need all that phone for, I am excluding you Tsukatu.

I mean people spend ungodly amounts of money for a godamn phone. Some of my classmates have blackberries, and do they really need that much phone...? It pisses me off, all you need really is a phone that can call and maybe a couple of games. I am excluding Tsukatu because you said you are a computer scientist.

How does that actually bother you? Are chills sent up your body at the sight of a smartphone?

Obviously you're a bit jealous of your friends who happen to have Texting, Emails, Maps, Internet etc etc on their phones.
Blame technology for advancing, or instead, blame yourself for not wanting to use the technology.
It's up to them how they want to spend their money. You're not the one to stop them.
But if in the end you're still pissed off, then instead of revolting the bandwagon, join the bandwagon.

Im not jealous, i do not give a crap if they have these phones, like a girl in my class has a Blackberry and an iPhone 3g, now does she really need all that?

They have all these great phones, but it is wasted on them because they mabye use 5% of the total phone capabilities.

Yet you still get pissed off. How paradoxical.
They have all these great phones, but it is wasted on them because they mabye use 5% of the total phone capabilities.
Not your loss now is it? If it concerns you, then why don't you just show them what they can do with their phones, instead of wasting your time ranting about what they don't.

Very well, you are right, I shall stop ranting about it.

I didn't realise this has anything to do with helping Screeg get a phone, but if you have to know, it's a default ringtone.

I personally have a strong dislike of RAZR line products. They seem to have a very high failure rate.

My dad got one of those. It's fairly slow.

Expensive? Yes. What do you mean you're strapped for cash.
But it a pretty good looking phone even though the features aren't that posh.
The features and stuff; That's why I think you maybe gettin ripped of.

And dude! You're getting a phone! I'm not old enough yet. :(((((((0

I had a Motorola V3? or something, it was excructiatingly slow and died within 8 months. I'm not sure how much they've improved since then, but friends who've had later versions of motorollas have all said that the software and speed is pretty bad.

I /think/ you mean a RAZR V3, maybe.

I have that phone and haven't had any problems with it. Of course I don't use my phone for anything more then calling people and the very rare text, so maybe the everything-on-a-phone features aren't as fast.
