This is my mouse. (RAT7)

This is my mouse. It has more parts than some small cars.

The thumb rest moves forward and back, and rotates. The palm rest moves forward and back and is interchangeable with two others that vary height and material. The pinky rest comes off and can be changed for two others of different shape and material. It also comes close to fitting my giant hands, which is awesome.

Why anyone would pay $75 for just a mouse is beyond me...

Mine is kind of similar.

This might be the ugliest, stupidest thing I've seen since Vibram FiveFingers.

I got a mouse and keyboard for $20, which is about $14 US. They use one USB slot between the two of them, which is handy.

Why are there numbers.
You do not need 12 macros for mouse clicks.

Oddly enough, I don't even use them. It was a gift from my ex, but it has a mesh cord instead of a rubber one, and it glides like a baby's ass smeared in butter across wax paper.

I don't get this comment. Why is it stupid?

Also it's not ugly at all, but that's juuuust my opinion.

That mouse looks like it might take off at any moment and start firing napalm at your action figurine collection.

It's stupid because he's paid an extreme mark-up for an aesthetic. I think it's stupid in the same way I think it's stupid to pay 300 dollars for a shirt from Dolce & Gabbana.

Huh, no, he paid more for a comfier experience. I mean, there are plenty other cheaper mouses around, but with this one the mouse can be adapted to your hand.

In that case he's extra screwed because, according to the OP, it still only "comes close to fitting" his hand. Not to mention that's total bullshit. You can get small, larger and standard size mice without paying through the nose for them. This level of modability is purely for novelty's sake. It's not ergonomic or practical. It's the stupidest thing on the planet.

I think that mice with comfort grips is all the ergonomics you'll ever need in a mouse.

"You can get small, larger [than small], and standard" is about right with my added descriptor. My hands are pretty damn long; half the mice I've used fit in my palm. My Logitech MX518 (identical body to the G5) was previously the largest mouse I had used, and there are very few others I have held that were as big, let alone bigger. This mouse, with its extend-able bits maxed, is bigger than that and is the closest I've come to having a mouse fits my hand. So, no, I didn't pay lots of money to buy a mouse that looks like a transformer (although I consider it a definite plus side :P ), I paid lots of money because it felt a hell of a lot nicer in my hand, your belief about whether it is ergonomic or not being irrelevant.

The amount of money I've spent on clothes in the last 3 years is under 300 dollars. Although some of that is the 10 or so KU shirts the university hands out for free.
For reference of my spending habits, the mouse is sitting next to my $8 Logitech keyboard that I am perfectly happy with.

My "belief" about it not being ergonomic is based entirely on your testimony so don't tell me it's not relevant. If you really wanted to spend the cash you did and get a mouse that actually fits your hand, you could have. Instead, by your own admission, you went for "close enough" and the cyborg look. That is some bullshit.

Tanner has a compelling point. I have an MX518 as well as an MX400, which are both large mice. My hands are average sized for an adult male, but unless you're an NBA basketball player, you shouldn't have any issues with the ergonomics of these mice.

Ahahahahahaha. Hahahaha. Aha.

*Ahem*

Please find me that magical mouse then. Because I've been searching for 5 years. I've held upwards of 50 different mice looking for one that actually fits. Razor's, Logitech's, MS's, random generic brands that aren't worth a crap anyway. This is the closest I've found to fitting, and it is really damn close. I think it'd be about perfect if the palm rest slide one more notch backwards.

Although my hands aren't basketball player big, they are definitely way past above average. I generally have a pretty lanky build. I'm just under 6'0" but have a 6'4" wingspan. And like I said:

I guess I wasn't quite clear on that, I've been using a MX518 for 3 years.

I suppose we have your word on that. Not that you would have anything to gain by saying the opposite if it were true.

I'm not interested in discussing this anymore except to say that if you really valued comfort over aesthetic in this case, you would be looking at professionally designed ergonomic mice instead of professionally designed gaming mice.

I have the mouse mentioned in the OP. I have a number of thoughts to share.

-First of all, it is hideous. There is little to argue about. It is ugly.
-It is wonderfully comfortable. The level of customization is excellent.
-It is actually a shoddy product. The Forward/Back buttons on the side of the mouse will collapse within a month of heavy use. (as my defacto Push to Talk keys, this is important.)
-The DPS settings are easy to use and mostly accurate.
-The laser in the mouse is needy and easy to get dust on.
-The surfaces which this thing works on are incredibly particular. I use a calendar because it rejected my mousepad.

Ultimately, I am not very pleased with the performance of said mouse at all. I'm probably buying a Razor Naga. (To answer to Tsukatu, the use of the extra buttons is WOWWWWWW)
