Apparently every attachment was lost again, so I'm reuploading this. I'm creating its own thread because the quality of the pack and its historical relevance deserve it. This is a compilation of 1000 maps made by The Legacy Team, which components were: maximo, LittleViking001, Kablizzy, tktktk, blue_tetris, astheoceansblue, KinGAleX, krusch, Jiggerjaw, Sweep, nevermore, Lucidium, Barabajagal and Sendy. It was made during 2005-2008, and released the 1st of January, 2009. In includes tons of info and stats apart from the maps, very interesting indeed.

---- // 1. Getting Started --------------------
Welcome to Legacy: Anthology. For those of you unfamiliar with what Legacy is, or what we do, then read on!
For those of you who have been with us from the beginning, then what are you waiting for? Get to playing!
What is Anthology, you ask? Why, take a gander down below, at the "What's in this Pack" section. I
promise you won't be disappointed.
So, if this is your first time dabbling with The Legacy, let me tell you a bit about how to get started.
Enclosed within this .zip file is a userlevels pack entitled "Anthology.txt". If you would like to play the
levelpacks as they were originally made, go to Anthology -> Original Packs, and you will find the versions
as they were originally released.
In order to play the Anthology Pack fully, you must have N installed. Once you do, find the directory
where N is installed, and locate the userlevels.txt file. Open the Anthology.txt file, copy all of the data,
and paste it into the userlevels.txt file, below the line. After that, save the userlevels.txt file, open N,
And enjoy!
---- // 2. What is The Legacy Project? --------------------
The Legacy Project began in October 2005 - maximo's brainchild to release a pack of 100 maps to commemorate
his return to the community. The rumor spread amongst staff, and shortly thereafter, LittleViking, tktktk,
Kablizzy, and nevermore were all conscripted to assist with the project as well. Sweep was then enlisted for
web design, and later contributed maps as well. The initial pack grew in size, and was slated at 400 maps,
with two packs planned thereafter, each 300-maps strong. The Legacy: Origins pack was released on March 1st,
2006 to rave reviews. It was then that The Legacy Team realized how influential they could really be.
Shortly after the release of Origins, The Legacy Team swung into full action, hosting contests and
brainstorming new ideas for community involvement. This gave birth to a renewed sense of community,
including contests such as NedCon, Vehemence, and the new NTTS, as well as projects such as The N
Hall of Fame, Map Tutorials, and many, many more. As the Legacy Team grew in popularity and influence,
more community members were invited into the ranks - blue_tetris, Lucidium, KinGAleX, and krusch.
In January of 2007, the Expanse pack was released, adding another 300 maps to the already massive Origins
pack. Nearly a year after Expanse was released, Barabajagal, astheoceansblue, and Sendy were all added as
well. Finally, one year thereafter, the Zenith pack was released to the public, finishing the daunting
and impressive task of 1000 maps. On January 1st, 2009, The Anthology pack was released, and Jiggerjaw was
added to the prestigious ranks.
What began as a pack of 100 maps turned into more than ten-times that numberover these past three-and-a-half years.
It's been a long road, but we've finally come to the end. So with this, the final pack in the Legacy Project, we are glad to have
provided you with these years of entertainment. But - of course - you know us, there's always more on the horizon!
The Legacy Team is dedicated to providing the community with high-quality level packs and other exciting projects.
Only through teamwork, perserverence, and excruciating hard work have we been able to accomplish this goal.
1000 maps later, and numerous community projects, we present to you the final form of the Legacy Project:
Legacy Anthology.
---- // 3. What's in this Pack --------------------
Legacy: Anthology is a compilation of the first three Legacy Map Packs: Origins, Expanse, and Zenith.
These packs have been edited, renumbered, and conglomerated into a single, 1000-level pack!
The maps begin at 000-0 and end at 199-4. No significant edits were made, this pack is simply a
culmination of the past four years' work. Small tweaks were thrown in, and the pack overall
was bettered, but if you are expecting substantial changes from the Anthology pack, you will find
much the same as you found the first time you played through the packs.
This pack is meant to give everyone who loved the Legacy packs the chance to have a boxed set -
A collector's edition, if you will; And those who have never played the Legacy Packs a chance
to start anew. There will be no contest with this pack; This time, Legacy is meant to be
enjoyed fully, rather than sped through for a prize.
Also included in this pack are some neat little extras;
- Banners from the original website design
- The Original Three map-packs, as they were released
- Map Theory Statistics (Histograms, Charts, Object Counts, and more!)
- Author Lists for the Origins and Expanse levelpacks
- All of the Legacy Elite Signature Tags

---- // 5. Frequently Asked Questions --------------------
Q: What is Legacy?
A: We have a whole section for that, above. READ IT.
Q: Why release a new pack with old maps?
A: Well, we have our reasons, but primarily to give you guys the maps as they were intended to be played.
Also, to provide you guys with these neato extras! Suffice to say, this pack is more than it seems.
Q: Why isn't there an Author list for Zenith?
A: During Origins, we each made two columns'-worth of maps. During Expanse, each author made 42 maps.
During Zenith, however, our mapping process became so intensive that no single map could really be
attributed to one single author any longer.
Q: What are all these graphs?
A: Read the Legacy Statistics readme for more details.
Q: How can I be a part of the Legacy?
A: We don't have a signup system, or anything, we just choose people we feel are outstanding mapmakers
and exemplary members of the community. Beyond that, always feel free to bring ideas up to us. We
love innovative community members.
Q: Where can I reach the Legacy Team?
A: You can reach any of us through NUMA, through our E-mail address listed above, or through the forums listed above.
Q: What's on the Horizon for the Legacy Team?
A: It all depends on Metanet. As of Anthology's release, Mare and Raigan have taken a bit of a back-seat
in the community, and as such, we honestly don't know what's coming around the bend. We like to think
that N v1.5 is coming soon, or at the very least, Robotology, but we'll just have to wait and see.
Q: What happened to Lucidium?
A: The world may never know.
---- // 7. Special Thanks and Acknowledgements --------------------
We think the first Thanks should go to Mare and Raigan for creating N, and for putting up with our antics in the community over the years.
With that said, Thanks to Arachnid for creating and (More importantly) maintaining NUMA and nmaps.net over the years.
Also, we'd like to give a huge thanks to the N Community for supporting us and giving us the opportunity to do what we do for you guys.
We'd also like to personally thank everyone who participated in the Legacy Speedrun contests, as it's you guys who we made these for!
In particular, we want to thank maximo for beginning this fantastic tradition, LittleViking001 for providing amazing web design and art
over the years, and Kablizzy for giving us the leadership that bonded this team together when we needed it most. And, of course, the
remainder of the Legacy Team for their unerring faith and devotion to the community.
And finally, a general thanks to everyone who helped make Legacy what it is today. We couldn't have done it without you!
