The Christmas Pack '09

HOHOHO! It’s that time of the year again...oh, wait, no, it’s only april...meh.

So last year’s Christmas pack was shonky, and a little bit rushed, so I decided to raise the bar this year. Lots.

The first obvious difference is time. Rather then a sudden “AHHH, MAPS!”like last year, I’ve decided that we should have time to do it. Half a year. Yes, I know...It’s a long time.

The other big difference is that I want more people in. Lots more. Specifically, what I am aiming for, is 10 people, each producing 10 maps, resulting in a big 100 maps! Of course, if I get a spectacular turnout, there’s no reason why I can’t make it bigger, but I’m aiming for whole columns, so If I get 14 people saying, “OMG! I WANT IN LOL!!!11111”, sorry, but 4 people aren’t going to make it. (Well, they might, if I can convince anyone to do 20 maps, but that is unlikely.)

Now, onto the details. The theme for this year, is “recurring shapes/patterns”. Now these recurring shapes/patterns can either affect the gameplay, or not at, they just have to be there. Here are some examples (and some of them, the maps that I plan on submitting, not all, but some, so no, you can’t use them.)

As well as this, the maps should be made somewhat episodic, as they will be, when completed, sorted into episodes. OOH. Fear not though, all your episodes will stay together. :)

Finally, to apply to be in, just send me a personal message, with a map that you feel fits the criteria. There is no date that this must be done by (within reason...don't pm me on the 24th of December and expect to get in). It is simply to ensure that the level of quality isn't shocking. When doing this however, don't submit it to numa, use the map tags, similar to what I have done above. This is because I can't accept any maps submitted to numa, as it causes much difficulty when trying to port it across after the map pack release.

I'll remind everyone in about August, but please, utilise the time given, and make some before then...It will make life easier for both you and me. Once you have completed a map, just PM it to me as you did your application. Easy. If you change it afterwards, just send me the updated one...I'll update the version I have. All good? Excelent.

IMPORTANT:

I almost forgot, to ensure that your PM is read, make sure you include the word Christmas in the subject.

Too many mappack projects are going around right now. Over half of them aren't going to finish.

Yeah, because the quality of the maps shouldn't matter, right?

yeah, no judging, except for at the very beginning, simply to make sure we don't get 10 of these:

I would like to try this; I don't know if you know me but I was moderately well-known on the old forums. I'm gonna try some mapping again.
