So after one and a half years I can proudly present you my new mappack
<<BLURRED BLUE>>

Image

I put a lot of work into this pack and probably won't ever produce any maps of such quality again. Because of that plus the fact, that I won't have much time for N in the future, I also see this as a kind of farewell present to the community.

The pack itself contains 44 maps, that's exactly twice as many as in my first pack Pictures of a forgotten world.

Blurred Blue is like a book - every map is a kind of chapter.
It is in the fantasy of the player to be creative, let a story evolve and experience the maps as a vivid adventure, full of atmosphere, lively pictures and exciting challenges.
Furthermore every 4 maps belong together in a theme frame and have connections to each other.

Wither, Cacti Castle!
Grow, Empire Of Treen!
A Succession,
Like An Olive Grove Facing The Sea.
Through The Thicket You Can See
An Alpine Glacier.
Suddenly - A Blizzard.
You Find Yourself In Terra Hiberna,
So Take A Bath In Frozen Lakes.
As You Walk On - Complications On The Way:
An Automated Border Protection Post.
On The Other Side: A Silent Hypostyle Hall.
A Citadel At Dawn.
Let's Go Up The Hill
And Descend To Ascend.
Now We're Climbing K2 - And I Forgot My Rope.
I Lose Ground,
An Explosive Kiss, Then Complete Darkness.
Wake Up In A Ruined Kingdom,
Underwater - Novaya Zemlya.
Plutonium Everywhere,
All Things Mutate!
Apocalypto, The Laserhorse,
Meet Yrr, The Enemy From Below,
Meet Your Nemesis,
Meet It!
Enter The Sewers -
A shock: Hydroelectricity,
A Font Magica.
Outside Again - A Moonlit Bay.
Night Dies Away, Sun Rise Light Flies.
Find Yourself In The Lion's Den,
Evade a Nosediving Eagle,
Run To Where The Kraho Live.
Cross The Faron Woods For A Trip To Hyrule.
Places Rush By: The Palace Of Twilight,
The Sacred Grove, The Deku Tree.
Go Back To The Roots.
Don't Believe Deceptive Dreams.
Break Out: Up, Up And Away,
In My Rocket Balloon.

Special thanks goes to the following people, who helped playtesting and were a source of inspiration for me:
Orange
Daikenkai
lsudny
Seneschal
aetherium (Mutate!)
Meta_ing (Deceptive Dreams)
Life247
EddyMataGallos (Explosive Kiss)

So now go and play it, my son, it is (literally) about time.
As this will most probably be my last work in terms of N, I'd love to receive some critical feedback, to get an impression of the real value of the pack.
Thanks, people, don't forget I love you all!

Overall, I love the pack. All of the maps have awesome tilesets. Some of the maps even introduced concepts I have yet to see. Great job! I give it a 4.5/5^.

Amazing mappack I loved it ;) It has got some awesome maps, there were some tedious ones but they had good aesthetics and so i also like them :P (btw there were 45 maps, not 44)

I took the pleasure to AGD every map, I attach the demos below, have fun checking them :P [ Theyre a little crappy, but i prefer to preserv my highscoring for when you sub them to NUMA, then Ill highscore my favourite ones ;) ]

Keep the good job ;)

Eddy, those were some impressive demos. Props to that!
So... I guess you're the first player to earn the honourable title 'The God'. I applaud thee.

I'll start rightaway to rce all of your maps, userbar+ded will follow later.

I don't have a regular internet access these months. I was searching a mappack exactly like this one to play in my free times.

While people have no more interest as the old years on the mappacks, you've done a solid job.
And i loved it.
When i beat it, i will post my all demos.

This one was one of the mappacks that i've most enjoyed ever. I AGD'ed the whole mappack like drinking a bottle of cold beer while i'm thirsty.

Only map i didn't really like was "19 - Lose Ground".
I thoroughly enjoyed 10,15, 17, 27.
31 was an art masterpiece.

Some of my demos are lame, but some of them are decent. But i can't beat EMG, of course.

I've been playing this on and off, and I have to say it's a really solid pack. I'll hold off on commenting more deeply until I complete more of the maps, but here's a couple of early impressions:

- Your race-like maps are probably the best races I've ever played. Hurry up and submit Through The Thicket to NUMA so I can add it to my favourites.
- Your mine placement catches me out a lot, especially when you embed them in the top of 2 and 3 tiles. (Dunno if that's a good description - the mine at the top of Grow is a good example.) They just seem deceptively easy to trigger.
- Lose Ground is haaard. I can't even get the first switch!

Again, great pack!

You've really kept your word and RCE'd all of my maps!

Thanks! It's thoroughly appreciated.

Well there were a lot of very bad filler maps, but still a few good ones.
  • 00 Prolonged Prologue >> I didn't like the object placement or the cheatability. Nice tiles though.
  • 01 Wither >> I dunno, it's pretty boring. It plays fine but there's no real purpose.
  • 02 Cacti Castle >> I really liked the tiles and rockets, but the locked doors weren't necessary.
  • 03 Grow >> Whoo! Got a laser-thru-tile dodge in my demo. I love the oneways here. Userlevel'd.
  • 04 Empire Of Treen >> Ugly, sloppily-made level.
  • 05 Succession >> The flowy atmosphere here was okay, but the gameplay was sucky.
  • 06 An Olive Grove Facing The Sea >> I didn't like this one. Nothing felt right.
  • 07 Through The Thicket >> The thwumps were bad, the laser was too finnicky, but everything else was great.
  • 08 Alpine Glacier >> The normal doors ruined the fun for me. Too easy to get stuck.
  • 09 Blizzard >> The chainguns were the wrong choice of enemy. Lasers would have been better.
  • 10 Terra Hiberna >> I'm not liking your z-snapping. The thwumps were lazy and the mine placement was pretty subpar.
  • 11 Take A Bath In Frozen Lakes >> The oneways here were very bothersome. The chaingun didn't fit either.
  • 12 Complications On The Way >> This one looked great but didn't play well at all. Different enemies might work better.
  • 13 Automated Border Protection Post >> This was a very boring map. Cheatable too. The lasers weren't good enemies.
  • 14 Silent Hypostyle Hall >> Yuck. The gauss/trapdoor thing was beyond stupid and the single gold pieces weren't necessary.
  • 15 Citadel At Dawn >> One locked door on each side would've been better. Otherwise a good map.
  • 16 Up the hill >> Your use of floorguards is questionable. The rest is good.
  • 17 Descend To Ascend >> Bland, repetitive, tedious.
  • 18 We're Climbing K2 - And I Forgot My Rope >> Well, I didn't like being force to go up the left side, but it was decent.
  • 19 Lose Ground >> Yeah, fuck this map. This type of minejumper is the worst.
  • 20 Explosive Kiss >> Sucks. Mine placement is shit, precision jumping is bad, floorguard bit was laughable.
  • 21 Ruined Kingdom >> Wasn't fun at all. The drones were too expansive and the gold placement sucked.
  • 22 Novaya Zemlya >> I can't be assed to AGD this one. The gausses and the chaser are horrible together.
  • 23 Plutonium >> The lasers were super shitty, the floorguard area was dumb, and I hated the beginning.
  • 24 Mutate! >> That teleporter took me by surprise, but after I found it the map got much better.
  • 25 Apocalypto, The Laserhorse >> Static enemies are a cheap fix for gameplay. You could've had a rocket and a laser.
  • 26 Yrr >> You're making these maps much too complicated. I liked the asymmetry though.
  • 27 Nemesis >> The fuck, man. What could possibly lead you to think nine gausses are necessary?
  • 28 It >> This one looks like some dreadlocks took a turn for the worse. Not very fun.
  • 29 Enter The Sewers >> The bottom part was fantastic, but the top part felt tacked on.
  • 30 Hydroelectricity >> Drones ruined the map. A laser would've been perfect.
  • 31 Font Magica >> Decent idea, very poorly executed.
  • 32 Moonlit Bay >> The normal zap drone wasn't necessary, and the gold in the gauss room was infuriating, but other than that this map was excellent. Userlevel'd.
  • 33 Sun Rise Light Flies >> This is a map where a NaN'd laser would've been good.
  • 34 Lion's Den >> The ending was stupid, but I really liked the layout of this map. Userlevel'd.
  • 35 Nosediving Eagle >> You NaN enemies too often. The design here wasn't very good.
  • 36 Where The Kraho Live >> Geez, you really copped out with these drones. No gameplay at all.
  • 37 Faron Woods >> There was no coherency whatsoever.
  • 38 Palace Of Twilight >> This is immaculate. Userlevel'd.
  • 39 Sacred Grove >> Absolutely awful gameplay.
  • 40 Deku Tree >> What a lazy level. The locked doors are stupid, the drones are boring, and the tiles are bad.
  • 41 Back To The Roots >> Totally wrong use of bounceblocks. Wasn't as fun as it looked.
  • 42 Deceptive Dreams >> Getting up to the exit switch is too damn hard for me. :(
  • 43 Up, Up And Away >> Damn son. At first I was like pfffft but then I was like whoooooooo. Nice map.
  • 44 In My Rocket Balloon >> Not worth playing.
Here are demos for about half the maps.
