But that doesn't at all make this a less awesome skin. This looks very sexy, smooth and elegant.
It has good enough contrast and because of that it doesn't feel dull.
And Chromatic? I think we should have a new name for this one, since it doesn't have anything to do with Chrome.

I don't know how easy this would be to code, but we can either use the colour slider (Meaning the background has to be a solid colour), or have a selection of 'themes' which can be selected through the control panel or the header navigation (Have the colours as 'subskins' to the main skin).
The default colour will not be blue though :)

Wouldn't that mean a way more limited amount of colors to be chosen?

It would do yes, but then it means we can add a bit more detail to the background. It depends, I'm sure we can narrow it to about 6 or 7 colours. The skin will be dark anyways, so it differs from Retronet.Donfuy wrote:Wouldn't that mean a way more limited amount of colors to be chosen?

I like it, but I think more elements, like the New Topic button, should stand out like the Announcement and Sticky icons do. If you accent more elements like that, though, you may wanna sacrifice the color-picker and go for one light-on-dark, like-m9-but-better color scheme.

To be honest those icons were for Retronet, but I might swap them out for a monochrome set.Pheidippides wrote:I like it, but I think more elements, like the New Topic button, should stand out like the Announcement and Sticky icons do. After a lot of discussion me and Joel have come to a decision to give Retronet a few tweaks, both aesthetically and internally to make it work better overall. At the moment we should be treating this skin as more of a late beta release rather than a final release.
So far the skin is looking great, the general looks is good and it works well, there's still a lot that needs working on, and Joel says he's planning on re-coding the skin from the ground up. I will be tweaking the UI part of the skin and have come up with what the final version of the skin will look like. There will be new UI elements included such as the Quote/Delete buttons being skin specific and having the poll bars working correctly. Also the user group bars will be available as well for updating, I've coloured these to match the default colours for the skin.
On release, I will post a bug thread here for those who find any (hopefully there will be none but there are no exceptions). There will be a definitive list in the first post and such you can check back when they are fixed, plus if you find something that has already been discovered then you will know there's no need to post about it five hundred odd times.
Firstly, the new usergroup icons.
Secondly the tweaked design, this is final and there's no major changes from the current colour scheme, no change in darkness or brightness, just a few new layer effects to neaten it up.

Looks good, Chase/Joel/both of you. I eagerly await my shiny new Mod icon. ^_^
Although, shouldn't the text color for Mods and Global Mods be switched to match their icons? I fee like that'd make more sense.

At the moment, the Global Mods colour is something else, while the Mod colour matches (for the new icons). Joel's gonna be working on changing the skin's code so that it colours the usernames accurately.Pheidippides wrote:Looks good, Chase/Joel/both of you. I eagerly await my shiny new Mod icon. ^_^

Oh thank god, new usergroup icons! :DD
I love the new looks except I don't like the vertical space the first three bars (Board Index, GENERAL and columns) take. Do they really need all that space?
But yeah, thank you both for making this even sexier.

Slight update on importance, can one of the admins get these implemented ASAP. This will reduce the confusion that people keep mentioning with the icons.Chase wrote:Donfuy, the icons on that are placeholders, they will be changed in due course. Also the orange is foul. I just showed you. Still, who's up for the idea of it being renamed 'Chromatic' and having a colour slider like Ortskin?
Anywho. Here's some new icons for the topics on Retronet. From Left to Right.
