I liked the theme you were talking about earlier, with the robot salvaging parts of a ship. You could have a huge cosmos in the background. But would the background spin with the gravity, or stay as it is?

What the?... How do you do that? The best I can get at the moment is 800...

Oh, by the way; is the game going to have any background graphics or music? I think those should be included. A better main menu might be nice, with an options page as well. Oh, and a logo. Gotta have a logo.

Gameplay is fantastic. Don't go changing. ;)
730 frames now :)

I don't think music is likely, purely because I have little to no knowledge in implementation, not to mention an absence of the relevant software. I considered background graphics, but it tends to just get confusing and mixed in with the main graphics - anyway, I quite like the minimalist style at the moment. A logo is definitely a good idea though; as is a menu overhaul. The other thing I was considering was having two level 'paths' - just like the different level columns in N - so that if you were stuck on one column then you could go over and try the one next door instead. I really like the unlockable levels, but I can see why it would be frustrating to get stuck on just one level and not have anything else to play with (highscoring notwithstanding).

Has anyone had an attempt at using the level editor? I used it to make all of the levels in the game, but I'd be interested in seeing what other people made of it. I aimed for intuitiveness - did I get there?

To by honest, I tried the editor, and it was quite confusing. I had no idea where the controls were until I moved my mouse over to the right. I also had trouble simply placing a line... for some reason it always started a new line at exactly the same place.

That's good to know, actually - I just need to include a readme and refer people to it from inside the game.

FYI, left-clicking positions the end of the line with the circle on it, while right-clicking switches that circle to the other end of the line, so you can move both of them.

Update! Rot8 v2.1 has just been released, with a bunch of new features - lefty mode, more levels, better graphics (press '1' or '2' in a replay to see muchos prettyness), and improved menu design/streamlining. Download it here , tell your friends and tell me what you think!

This is awesome! I've beaten half of it so far and will finish when I get the chance. Also on my to-do's: check out the level editor. ;)

:o

This is amazing.

Bug notice: I switched to lefty mode (I wanted to use the same fingers for moving and jumping that I use in N) and pressing Z didn't rotate the map. Instead, he went straight down (I think it turns slightly red too) and then comes back up with the victory animation. It also gives me:

Thanks! Bug fixed - it was a relic from when I was testing the 'death/win' animations, and added a line saying that pressing Z would kill you. Line deleted, correct version uploaded. That was probably the easiest bug I've had to find all week.

Glad you like it, guys. Spread the word!

(Oh, and sorry - no Mac version for yoooooooooou)

Update! Well, I say update, I mean more bugfixes. The better-workin' version is now available for download at the usual spot - this is a highly recommended update, as otherwise the game crashes should you ever attempt to view any of your highscores past Lvl 25-ish.

In better news though, I made a trailer for the game. If you haven't been bothered to download Rot8 itself yet, take a look at the video instead. Oh, and excuse youtube's crappy compression rate.

Enjoy!
