InsomNicon 2009: Neo-Spacian Goldblum Experiment.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
Studebacher Hoch wrote:Slappy has told me to pass on that InsomNicon is being postponed until next week for reasons which are beyond his control. So, for those of you who wanted this, great job, awesome show, and for those of you who turned down the hottest of dates so they could make it tonight, well... That's life.
InsomNicon is a legendary contest among the Metanet community. Basically, you stay on the IRC for as long as you possibly can, and whilst doing so, complete ridiculous tasks against fellow metanetters for meaningless points. Whoever has the most points at the end wins.

Unless less than seven people sign up, I'm going to run it on Friday, March 13th, from Eight PM EST on.
(For reference, that's 12:00:00 Noon Saturday, March 14, 2009 in Australia/Sydney)

You can join as far as twelve hours in, but keep in mind that you will be at a twelve point disadvantage to even the weakest of players, as one point will be awarded each hour.

Extra points shall be awarded for the meaningless tasks we have you complete. For example, from previous years, "Show us the least ironic lunchbox on the internet!" or "Find a band to play at your prom!"

A new task will be assigned every hour. Failure to complete three tasks will have you removed from competition. (And you don't get points in those rounds, anyway.)

Do join if you're only going to be around for a few hours, anyway. It's a lot of fun, and the first few hours are always good.

I'm totally in. Not sure if I'll be in for the long haul, but I've been waiting to get this off the ground for a long while.

Also, even if you don't think you're going to win, sign up! Let everyone know about InsomNicon '09!

Also I would like to request a change in the task system, similar to how it's been for Insomnicon II.
Failing three tasks shouldn't kick you out, but simply have you lose the points. However, not attempting to solve a task should count towards getting kicked. It's what annoyed me about Insomnicon I and what I loved about II, mainly because half of the tasks were simply completing a map, or making one, which isn't exactly something everyone can do. *coughmecough*

I'm totally going to try to be in this. If it stretches on as long as the last, I won't be able to stay to the end, but I' will still stay for a fair bit of it, I hope.

I want to join, but deciding to do this with only a few days notice was a retarded idea. For instance, LF wants to join in, but I believe he'd rather had a weeks notice rather than just heard about it yesterday.

Oh. See, I've always felt that any effort to succesfully complete the task still shows that you're present. So, I agree with you.

@Pops: Well, that may be true, but with this short notice, more people are excited about this right now, as opposed to getting hyped about something and then being reminded of it two weeks later. And there will always be others.

I'm in it to win it. Or, at least, I'm in it to become unreasonably tired and irritable.

Man, March 6th.

The Watchmen opens.
There's a benefit concert that my friends are headlining.
There's a semi-final hockey game that my other friends are playing.
There's rehearsal for a play that I'm Assistant Stage Managing.
InsomNicon.

What's with March 6th, man?
