I have recently decided to try my hand at writing. It will a fantasy genre book called Tears of Ice and i am asking the community for some advice, help on picking characters settings, cover pics and things like that. If you help me and I somehow manage to miraculously finish this book, I will put the Real N Forums community in the acknowledgments section of the book.

What do you plan about this book? I mean, a book, a -fantasy- themed book requires imagination, all of people here can say something, but it's up to you if you'll use it or not. No difference if we all get together and write a book, I suggest you to use your own imagination and writing skills to write this book, I don't know how long you want it to be, but put it after you -only yourself- write this down, and post it here, and my suggestion to you is decide the title of the book after you write it, will make things easier when setting the characters and overview of the book.

K thx.
I started the prologue, its not done yet but this is the first paragraph. tell me what you think. and plz make it constructive criticism, don just say "This Sucks!". Thx
PrologueHe walked through the decaying, shell of a once thriving city. Holding a piece of cloth on his face to help block the smell of all the rotting corpses. Looking for any remaining trace of life amongst the once opulent homes. He sighed wondered and why he even bothered, he knew they were all dead, he had to stop pretending like he would find anyone and centralize his search on finding food and clothes. He looked down at the ragged remains of his once blue jacket that was now red, it was the jacket he had been wearing ever since they had left. His jacket was streaked in blood from all the of the killing he had done when he had been defending his city.

Couple of hints:
1. Don't choose the title before you write the book.
2. Rewrite the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
3. Include a Russian lesbian couple.

You've got the academic who survived the Stalinist purges and is now having flashbacks to that time. There's his daughter whose long bitter marriage is falling apart around her and the journalist who's investigating the academic because he suspects he was never in Russia at the time and then he falls obsessively in love with the daughter and sacrifices his career to become a lens grinder in Omsk.

First of all, whats with you guys and Russia? This is a FANTASY book, no Russia! And the comments I'm getting don't even make sense, I said I wanted constructive criticism not people telling me to add a Russian lesbian couple and all that other stuff. It's just weird.

No offense, but you're incredibly stupid and arrogant, and this idea sucks more than the sex-starved daughters of Stalinist Mother Russia.

Implied by the fact that they're Russians.

I rewrote this for you. The criticism in implied therein.
It was a cold, bright day in April. The only thing that was left to keep me warm was the blood stained jacket that I kept close at hand. The memories drifted in the air with a chilling freshness, as if I were still there. Flashbacks of the couple being tracked and hounded by the others moved before my eyes, the vivid red blood streaking across that room as they were torn apart, limb to limb, still screaming despite the fact that they were half dead. The others that were committing this horrendous act were screaming as well, despite the fact that they were dead. I remember that day I went to find my mother, hoping it wasn't too late. It was late, the others were starting to come out of their holes. Walking into my old bedroom, she was in the corner, sobbing quietly. I told her of the dangers, how she needed to get out of there, and stop clinging to the happy memories of days long gone. I explained how the others were coming for her and my mom got scared and said, "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air." I whistled for a cab and when it came near the license plate said fresh and had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare but I thought, "Now forget it, yo home to Bel-Air!" I pulled up to a house about seven or eight and I yelled to the cabby, "Yo homes, smell you later." I looked at my kingdom I was finally there, to sit on my throne as the prince of Bel-Air.

Gerald began--but was interrupted by a piercing whistle which cost him ten percent of his hearing permanently, as it did everyone else in a ten-mile radius of the eruption, not that it mattered much because for them "permanently" meant the next ten minutes or so until buried by searing lava or suffocated by choking ash--to pee.

I'd be happy to help, if you've got specific questions. I could easily come up with some characters.

The double agent looked up from his lunch of Mahi-Mahi and couscous and realized that he must escape from Walla Walla to Bora Bora to come face-to-face with his arch enemy by taking out his 30-30 and shooting off his nemesis' ear-to-ear grin so he could wave bye-bye to this duplicitous life, but the chances of him pulling this off were only so-so, much less than 50-50.
