For the first game me and firedevil have decided on doing it in 2D and then progressing to 3D later on. What do you think would be a good engine to run/dev the game on?

I was thinking of using the most basic to start with before making our own engine and making it in the latest version of RPG maker. Has anyone got any other ideas?

We need to first get the core of the group up and running the Codeing.

Once we have this we can actually start in game experimenting. An ideal language therefore would be ideal plus I am interested in learning how to code so that I can do alot of things to aid with the story.

The word RPG in general does not tickle my fancy. At all.

Then that is your say :).

As for me this game if I can help it has to be on a totally different level. The interaction the sandbox style but always pushed on to be linear style of game play. Oh I'm not sayin its gonna be able to compete with the officially released games yet. But this game will make up for a lack of graphics with gameplay and content aswell as story.

2D turn-based RPG are -not- boring.

Torque's 2d Engine is phenomenal...

super expandable and very easy to get into and use.
