but since izzy tro tfk still have their strength point, so i believe they still hold some chance of securing their lands against goddy xaelar XD I believe players can still have fun playing land maps...

Comic Activity-O-Meter: (how often I'm updating my comic)
NOTE: If I just add a bunch of comics in one day, but plan on going back to normal after that, I probably won't update the status.
+ Dead: Canceled. Done. Maybe you'll get a random comic like once a year, but it's pretty much done.
- Zombie (Dead/Comatose): The comic is probably done regular updates forever, but I'll probably still add something once in a blue moon. It's still POSSIBLE, that I'll raise the status up, but not very likely. Maybe I'll have a comicplosion for like a week, then go back to being dead
+ Comatose: Complete stand-by. No (or very few) updates for some amount of time, but the comic's far from being over
- <AFK> (Comatose/Loitering): Stand-by, but you might possibly count on a few updates once and a while. Again, this is temporary
+ Loitering: Like comatose, but for short amount of times.
- Turtling (Loitering/Semi-Active): Really slooooww updates
+ Semi-Active: One every 2 weeks...ish?
- Quasi-Active (Semi-Active/Active): Averaging about 2 comics every 3 weeks
+ Active: Loosely defined status, but about a weekly update
- Over-Active (Active/Power-leveling): About 2 comics a week
+ Power-leveling: About 3 comics a week. Possible a schedule, possibly not
- Über-Epic (Power-leveling/COMICPLOSION!!): In some cases, this may actually be mean updates more frequently than COMICPLOSION!!, but I'm defining this level as a non-organized comic rush, kind of like a few days after my comic started
+ COMICPLOSION!!: Daily updates for a minimum of 5 days (since the daily updates started. It remains at this status until the 5, 7, whatever days are done)

I would suggest ppl to submit an empty map, delist, edit, highscores, then claim

I thought that at first, but not really anymore. I mean, yes, your map will be played by at least one other person, but since this is a highscoring contest, unless your score is pretty good, it'll be overthrown by one guy, so only one person will have played your map. Plus, you won't really be participating in the contest the way it's meant to be, you'll just be using it as a way to get people to demo your maps. People who are actually playing the game will be submitting maps that they can protect best, as xaelar put it. That means they'll likely be making new maps for the competition, not just highscoring existing ones of theirs (I'm saying ones they've already made but haven't subbed to NUMA).Exüberance wrote:This contest is a great way to get people to play your map. They don't usually rate and/or comment, but they play it! I almost WANT my lands to be overthrown, since that means people are playing them ^_^.
My point, summed up: Maps that are good maps won't be getting played as much as maps that are good for highscore defending.
But still, it does get people playing other people's maps, yes. And it's also fun and brilliant and all that, yes. :P

My thoughts are that you should not allow people to just add Nreality code to a previously made map. I think you should have to make the entire map yourself and old maps shouldn't be allowed.Unreality wrote:delisted maps are okay

I have pm-ed bhz to ask him to use another map. Since I don't think it is necessary to make the entire map by themselves, I would prefer letting the participants use other ppl maps as long as they have the original author permissionManus Australis wrote:My thoughts are that you should not allow people to just add Nreality code to a previously made map. p.s. I have changed the Q&A of the first post
From bhz:
Are we allowed to resubmit a map of another player and use it to play in land battles?
Are we allowed to resubmit a map of ourselves to use in land battles?
Are we allowed to resubmit a map that was conquered earlier on to use in land battles?
Yes, yes, yes, use any maps you like. Get the original author permission first and credit/link the original map at numa if it isn't created by you

Heh heh heh. This changes everything. Makes it slightly easier for people like me who are good at N, but not quite good enough to get decent highscores... then again it's easier for everyone. Oh well!
Yes, but only if the person who beat your highscore has a map beside yours. A lot of people highscore in advance. Still a good way for people to notice yoru map even if they don't click the NUMA link.Avarin wrote:it'll be overthrown by one guy, so only one person will have played your map.

It doesnt really change anything because on the battle lands page the maps are direct linked so even if you delist the map numbers are still there so you don't really hide anything.Exüberance wrote:*schemey fingers*Unreality wrote:delisted maps are okay

I was just about to point that out myself.Exüberance wrote:(Most Likely Unintentional) Cheating: http://n.infunity.com/numa.php?mapID=165320 appears to have been edited after highscoring such that in the only highscore, the ninja dies instead of reaching the exit.
It's not a huge deal though. The NReality demo that doesn't work is 137 frames, but he posted a 140-frame legit completion on NUMA.

EDIT: Woo! Overthrew it anways with the exact same frame count. I wonder how close the demo data is.

Ah yes, the internet meme. Completely random, pointless, overused, and I still have no clue how 90% of them started!
Need to improve my time by half a second though.

we don't have that many player participate, and the main problems is that there are not much ppl with both map making and highscoring skillsquibbles wrote:Perhaps a ranking system with multiple land battle playing areas, where players of different skills play against each other...that way everyone gets to play, regardless of skill...winning land increases your skill level, losing it decreases it...once your skill level reaches a certain threshold, you move up to a higher level playing area.
