Is it possible to change playerMods or objectMods via switch? I think I picked it up somewhere in the end of the original NReality thread in the old forum, but it doesn't seem to work, no matter how I try. It isn't mentioned anywhere either. Is it possible?

I don't think so. I don't see any possible way to code this without variables.
