Survivals have become less popular because it's much more difficult to record demos and there is little competition. I believe NReality should have survival highscores that shows how many frames everyone lasted. This would boost popularity in survivals and make them much more common.

This would be great. It might be hard to implement (say, into Nreality) but I think it would be a great idea.

Survivals are less popular because arachnid got rid of map lists, before you could sort new maps by genre, which guaranteed each genre its spot in the sun.

As a big fan of survivals I support this and have for a long time but I'm not sure its why they are unpopular it's probably more like what rocket_thwumped said.

It's not really difficult to record demos since you can press Shift + R in NReality to get a demo after dying (Note: Doesn't work after pressing 'K' (or what ever key you use for suicide)) But I still think this is a better idea to get more competition on survival maps.
