Anyway, when the bids are flying all over the place and I've got high-value cards, I just bid no-trump at whatever level. Kind of defensive, I think, but I usually don't get strength in any one suit.

Would you do that even if you had, say, a 6-3-2-2 split? I absolutely hate playing no-trump; I get in a trump-game rhythm and then find I can't take the hand back with a low trump. I lose spectacularly.

I registered as 'kisler' because the name I use here was taken.

If I had strength in the suits of 2, I might still bet no-trump to take quick tricks. It's good not to wager blind.
