Chess

I've recently started playing chess and I'd like to play someone pretty decent. If you play, just post your best estimate of your skill level in a "casual" context, or any official Elo or ECF ratings you might hold. If you post, I'd prefer you be someone who plays somewhat actively or at least someone who did play and wants to get back into the game, as opposed to a "former" player.

List:
Impulse - Beginner/Intermediate
boustrophedon - Casual/Intermediate
Rose - Intermediate/Around 1300 Elo
l'oeuvre - Casual/Weak
smort - Casual/Beginner
lukesv - Casual/Intermediate
999_Springs - Intermediate/Advanced

I used to be the founder of #chess on irc, but everyone lost interest and it died. :/

EDIT: Just re-registered it. Feel free to join.

I'm not very good at Chess cause I rarely play, but when I do it's with my little cousins to teach them how to play.

Used to play regularly with my father. I wouldn't mind getting back into it.

I use to play all the time with my friends, but within the last year I have only played like 4 or 5 times.

Here's the old thread.

I don't really know enough about ratings to assign myself one, but I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess that I was about 1600ish at my peak. This was a while back.

I've only played once since last year, but if you want a game then I'd be up for it. I'm far better at longer games than shorter ones, mainly because I play according to calculation rather than instinct.

Oh yeah, #chess. My memories of this around the start of 2010 are of the channel quickly developing into a spam battleground involving endless singing of 99 bottles of beer on the wall. Not much else happened.
