This competition is open to everyone, from the hardcore poetry enthusiasts, to the guys who have never read a poem in their life. Although please do have a good go at it if you sign up :)
Anyway, enough with the formalities, here is the bare bones of the competition:
2) Each week I will give you a theme, which may be about the subject, the structure, or using a particular literary device.
3) Using the given theme, you carefully craft a stunning poem, which you then pm to me before the deadline (which will be posted along with the theme).
4) I put all the submitted poems into a voting thread for the metanet community.
5) :D
6) You get a number of points, which depends on how well your poem did in the voting thread.
7) At the end a winner is declared. They win. A prize may be involved....
-ONLY ONE POEM PER WEEK
-YOU PM ME THE POEMS
NOTE: I've decided to hide the author's names during the voting period to remove bias. Do not worry that no one will ever realise your poetry genius, as once the competition is over, I'll be creating a file with every poem arranged by author.
Points will be issued as follows:

WEEK 2- STORYTIME!deadline thursday 10th september 2009 7pmGMT
This week I give you the theme of space. Thats it. The only twists are that the poem must have a narrative element to it and it must be at least 10 lines long. The more creative and emotive your poem, the better.
WEEK 3- Metaphor A-hoy!deadline frisday 27th september 2009 7pmGMT The theme for this week is nature through metaphors.
E.g. the brittle fingers sprouted through the earth, splintering
I'm talkin' bout trees there, but you can choose any nature related subject, from a vast landscape with towering mountains to a muddy puddle with a baby frog splashing about.
