Discuss who's going to win, etc.
Personally I feel that WTWTA has been robbed, especially in the music category. And just one nomination for In The Loop? :///

I agree on the front of In The Loop. A wonderful gem of comedy, but WTWTA was more disappointing then anything in a long while.

Avatar will take Director and Effects, no question. It's got a run at best picture simply for the phenomenon, but I don't think it deserves it like it does the other two.
I'm liking the film less the more I see it, especially now the 3-4 hour extended cut rumour has been dashed by Cameron himself. :(

Bigelow and Tarantino are miles ahead in direction. Certainly Bigelow could take this from Cameron easy.

I've not seen The Hurt Locker yet. How'd you rate it?

Preachy but brilliant. 9ish/10.

The Graphic Novel is wonderful. I've only heard good things about the film from people I know.

Coraline was a fine movie. Up approached greatness.

Well, I disliked The Nightmare Before Christmas too. Never got into that style.
Didn't see Up, but I don't really like animated movies much anymore anyway.
... Sorry for being such a hater today.

For Best Picture, I think Avatar, District 9, Inglourious Basterds, and Up all deserve their spots. Then again, I didn't see any of the other movies on that list.

The hurt locker was very good probably the best of these that I've seen and avatar is a great creation for all its flaws. I didn't enjoy Up

I don't need to reiterate how much I hated District 9, but I will. If that wins best picture, I'm quitting this community forever.

Now that I can agree with. I think it's up for best screenplay also, which I can't fathom.

I never actually do like animated movies too, but don't be so prejudiced about
Up. It's a great movie, you should go see it.
And I mean it. (That sounded a little poetic)

I don't keep up with movie releases that much but would cloverfield be nominated for that award as well? Or would that be last years Oscars? Also who is Oscar?

that's odd, considering that they used an improvised script. I'd agree that it's not Best Picture worthy, but it was better than Avatar, which should neither be nominated in this category.

I'm stunned Where the Wild Things Are didn't get a soundtrack nomination.

It's sounds the same and is mostly generic. :/

I disagree. :/
I think what it adds to the film is most important anyways, the music sequences were some of the best parts.
