Best movie(s) of the '90s.

And that decade brought us some classics. Saving Private Ryan. Balto (I'll always have a soft spot for Balto, the heroic husky). Braveheart. Edward Scissorhands. A Few Good Men. The Big Lebowski.

I love The Big Lebowski, and probably think it's my favorite. As far as animation goes, Miyazaki hit a high, and A Bug's Life was superb. Let's also mention Bottle Rocket and Rushmore, Barton Fink, Point Break, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and Eyes Wide Shut.

Y'know, I never understood why The Big Lebowski has such a cult following. I mean, I enjoyed it and everything, but I can't see why people would call it one of the best movies of the 90's.

The phrase "90's movies" makes me think of the "classics" for kids who were my age, like Cool Runnings and Brink. I certainly wouldn't call them the best movies of the 90's, but I do consider them to be quintessential examples of movies of that time.

Anyway, I'm surprised no-one mentioned Schindler's List, or, come to that, my personal favourite film of the 90s, L.A. Confidential. Also making it into my top 8 are Barton Fink, Toy Story, After Life, Saving Private Ryan, Princess Mononoke and The Matrix, but I admit that I haven't seen many movies from the 90s, unfortunately.

The Big Lebowski is so fantastic, but I don't know how I could argue that. Rewatch it, maybe? It took me two watchings to fall in love.

And Schindler's List is classic Spielberg.

I love 7, it's the atmosphere rather than the twists that get me. Fincher is great with atmosphere.

I remember loving that film, watched it again recently and aside from some wonderful visuals and costume design it's a real mess of a film. Clunky childish narrative and over-acting plus a phoned in performance from The Man Willis. Really lacklustre, imo.



After some research, I can safely say my favourite 90s films are as follows:

T2, The Matrix, Se7en, Scream, American History X, Princess Mononoke, Leon, and Clerks.

Watched this so many times when I was younger.

I have very distinct memories of playing SimTower while watching this and thinking that that was really awesome. I was building ballrooms in my tower when the monkey was making a mess of the ballroom.
Because I was ~12 in 1999, I enjoyed the crap out of Starship Troopers. I saw it again a few years ago and was extremely embarrassed to have been my past self.

Clerks 2 is a pile of cash-in turds. Clerks one is a low-fi, understated comedy of subtle brilliance. Have you seen the first? You really should.

Well i don't adore it because i think it's a cinematic masterpiece. The style is just fun. It's like bubblegum music. Sure it's flawed, but what isn't?

Second, the Fifth Element does not really work on reviewings, mostly because Jovavich or however her name is spelled is functionally retarded. And that blue chick scene goes on for forever.
