Big Star, whose frontman and chief visionary Alex Chilton passed away earlier this year, just lost another member. Founding bassist Andy Hummel succumbed to heart failure yesterday in Weatherford, Texas, following a two-year battle with cancer. He was 59. Drummer Jody Stephens is now the band’s only surviving member.

Damn, but those Redwall books were terrible. However many of them I read, anyway.

Double because Duke Snider, the best of the Dodgers' Boys of Summer, died last night at 84. Great player.

RIP Brian Jacques. The books were awesome, and I remember the cartoon was quite awesome when I was a kid.

LATE EDIT: Also, forgot about Garry Moore. RIP Gary. You were an awesome guitarist.

Gil Scott-Heron, the godfather of rap. While predictable, his death is especially saddening because of the semi-recent revival of his brilliant musical career.

I teared up a bit when 'I'm New Here' started playing on my iPod today. He will be missed.
